So you’re saying Hurley is the next coach?

Just a comparison… RMK had a .735 winning percentage overall and .700 B1G winning percentage in his IU tenure. Overall, including Army and Texas Tech, his winning percentage was.709. In his 29 years at IU he only missed the dance 4 times and in 2 of those 4 years he won the championship of the tournament he was in, and in the final game in a 3rd. He was consistently playing into the 2nd weekend of the dance until the last 5 years or so. Not saying Cronin is the equal of Knight, but always good to put things in perspective.

Sure that they got it out of their system in the first period. I would be surprised to see any more fighting in the third period.

Three fights in the first 9 seconds of the US-Canada hockey game. As great as CBB is, cannot match that

Any truth to the rumor that there was a tortoise walking around Bloomington with Woodson’s head on it?

Let me be clear. I am not all in on the Chris Beard bandwagon. If we could get Stevens, May, Oates or TJ, I would be ecstatic. Just want to keep an open mind when it comes to Beard

Since we are eliminating candidates based on the results of today’s games, I guess all my pontificating about Beard is for naught as they are behind by 11 at home v Miss. State

And that’s the dilemma. Take the chance and either become the GOAT in regards to IU ADs, or become the goat that everyone blames and wants to see burned at the stake. I don’t know Scott Dolson. I don’t know Pam Whitten. Can’t even imagine what they might do. I do know that throughout history, people who are considered great had to take a gamble at some point.

Completely understand. As I said, his hiring would be divisive. I have a wife, daughters, granddaughters and soon a great-granddaughter. I get it. I also try to put myself in other’s shoes. I bet most everyone has something in their past that they don’t want to be made public. Faith can be the foundation for change. Hoping Chris can embrace that whether he comes to Bloomington or not

Not sure that this will make sense to some people. Hell, a lot of stuff posted here doesn’t make sense. But here’s my take on Beard. Yes, a good coach who can win big here Yes, he would be divisive. He might drive off some big donors, but if he starts winning like I think he can, they’d start coming back. Yes he’s a big risk. All that to say. Based on his stated love and respect of RMK. Based on him outwardly expressing that he wants the IU job. I think Chris Beard would turn a new leaf in Bloomington. I think he views IU as his church, and RMK his mentor. I believe that he would not do anything that would tarnish those things he holds as so important to him. For lack of better words, I think IU would be the salvation for Chris Beard. Whether the opportunity exists for him will require some open minds who believe in the concept of redemption. Whether the opportunity exists is going to take leadership who believes that the IU brand is strong enough to take the initial hit it will undoubtedly take, and believe that the reward is worth the risk. I have personally seen people who have been in as low or lower places than Beard, and have changed themselves to become well respected individuals who contribute to the greater good of society. All it takes is one person, one group of leaders, to give him the chance.

I would take 5 Luke Goodes over some of these other guys. He plays with heart. Can’t say as much for Rice .

And he cares deeply about IU. Can’t imagine how hard it must be for him to sit on his hands and not say anything

My last thought on this… Let Fisch have a say in this decision. He has seen, firsthand, pretty much every candidate in the pool. He has been around long enough to know what good coaching looks like. Take his opinion and weigh it as heavily as anything else. Nothing has worked in this process for the last 25 years. What would it hurt to listen to him?
