They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
steubenhoosier replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
If you grew up in a small city and planned on building your career there, wouldn’t it be career suicide to bash the guy who is essentially your boss? Who here would do that? And for all the discussion about Leal making more money… he gave a lot to help his sister. He didn’t selfishly profit for his own good. Somewhere today I thought I read here that the McNeely family found the IU fan base toxic… and didn’t want Liam in that environment. Either that was fake news or maybe they have a point. -
And, Dug McDaniel is in the portal as well.

So, which is it for you? You constantly disparage “ old timers” for living in the past about a game that in your opinion has passed them by. Yet you try to make a point using something from over 20 years ago. I am ready for a coaching change, just like the majority on here. But the reaches some of you guys make to try and validate your position are really weak -

Dusty will be available by the end of the first weekend. Izzo will lose in the first round. I don’t think Purdue gets to the Final Four. McNeese is the sleeper -

I am an avid curler. Lot’s of fun, great workout, and you can drink while you play. -
More than not hindering. He has to keep them in place. I get it. You lump Woodson and Dolsen together . I will let things play out with Cig and see what Dolsen does with Woodson before passing judgment.

There is more to the IU Athletic Department than just basketball. Coach Cig is thought to be a strong hire. He has done enough to keep Moren from looking for greener pastures with all the success she’s had. The baseball program has been ranked. Many of the Olympic sports programs have done extremely well. I agree, he’s going to have to nail the next basketball hire, but when looked at in totality, he’s got IU athletics performing well.

Nothing wrong with criticizing the game. I take exception when the fire conversation leaks into every other thread. -

Have read multiple times when someone has posted something positive in the fire thread that they needed to go to the positive thread. I haven’t said anything on the fire thread for a bit. Guess expecting the standards to be the same across the board doesn’t really matter. The negative guys rule -

Push back on this a bit. NIL is not because of the fans. NIL is because a basketball player from UCLA sued the NCAA and courts found his complaint valid, thus creating NIL. NIL is funded by folks with deep pockets who expect something in return for their investment....appearances, endorsement of product, etc. Yes, players have now gone to promoting themselves via selling gear, etc. They also promote and probably receive fees from social media. And its' the same axiom as anything else, if you don't want to support someone, don't buy what they're selling.
