General Coach Candidate News
steubenhoosier replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not sure that this will make sense to some people. Hell, a lot of stuff posted here doesn’t make sense. But here’s my take on Beard. Yes, a good coach who can win big here Yes, he would be divisive. He might drive off some big donors, but if he starts winning like I think he can, they’d start coming back. Yes he’s a big risk. All that to say. Based on his stated love and respect of RMK. Based on him outwardly expressing that he wants the IU job. I think Chris Beard would turn a new leaf in Bloomington. I think he views IU as his church, and RMK his mentor. I believe that he would not do anything that would tarnish those things he holds as so important to him. For lack of better words, I think IU would be the salvation for Chris Beard. Whether the opportunity exists for him will require some open minds who believe in the concept of redemption. Whether the opportunity exists is going to take leadership who believes that the IU brand is strong enough to take the initial hit it will undoubtedly take, and believe that the reward is worth the risk. I have personally seen people who have been in as low or lower places than Beard, and have changed themselves to become well respected individuals who contribute to the greater good of society. All it takes is one person, one group of leaders, to give him the chance. -

I would take 5 Luke Goodes over some of these other guys. He plays with heart. Can’t say as much for Rice . -

And he cares deeply about IU. Can’t imagine how hard it must be for him to sit on his hands and not say anything -

My last thought on this… Let Fisch have a say in this decision. He has seen, firsthand, pretty much every candidate in the pool. He has been around long enough to know what good coaching looks like. Take his opinion and weigh it as heavily as anything else. Nothing has worked in this process for the last 25 years. What would it hurt to listen to him? -

Either- Our insiders were wrong or The aliens at the Holiday Inn in Paramis that declared the end of the world on Valentines Day, 2015 were wrong. Only one can be right. You decide which one is telling the truth! -

Not everything basketball related has been a disaster. IUWBB and Coach Moren have put together a pretty impressive run -

Anyone who is critical of Dolson through this needs to take a step back. The criticism would have been warranted if he had not pursued Stevens. He was willing to push all his chips in, and unfortunately it apparently didn’t work out. Please hold judgment until the actual hiring is announced. -

I'll just throw this out there as food for thought, based on having worked with HNW people for the last 30 years... This isn't your average hiring process-- -There may be a family office involved, and each part is doing their due diligence. - How might a move to a different state affect me income tax wise? -How might a move to a different state impact any estate planning I've done? -Would I be leaving anything behind, like deferred compensation, and could I negotiate to keep some or all of it? Could be a myriad of other things as well. My point being that this might be a little more complicated than just saying "yes" to a new job. -

Could be as simple as it's Valentine's weekend and someone wants to get out of the cold and crappy NE weather and treat their loved one to a warm vacay. -

Yes, I don’t care for Palm. Regardless of what he says, his Purdue bias always comes through -

So, just for giggles I looked it up and February 26th is National Carpe Diem Day. Hopefully, Scott and Brad do so and seize the day by announcing that we have our next head coach. Unfortunately, it's also National Tell a Fairy Tale Day, so there's that. As far as the GM role, assuming it would only be for basketball, football would have their own if needed? If so, this might be a good spot for Fife. He seemed to have great recruiting connections, and would bring him back into the program as a potential successor when Stevens decides to step down. -

Not nearly as many times as the same tripe repeated by the same people. Over, and over, and over and over... I listed some of the most common comments. Nothing new to add. So, who's insane? The guy who has posted "Woody's cooking" about 500 times? Or how about the same comments ad nauseum about the administration? I bet my post count here is a fraction of those type of comments. -

Nope, not saying anything about supporting Woodson. Am saying that the team has a chance to make this season worthwhile . Get behind the players..
