Had a top 30 KenPom defense this year playing a bunch of true freshman and sophomores. Dude can coach. Just a matter of a bigger program buying in and letting him build.

I don't think Schertz is married to SLU. Very possible he's still auditioning for a bigger gig. Shrews and Schertz are both probably the proverbial favorites for the job opening whenever there's a vacancy and if we had made a move this year, I would have still preferred both of them over May.

Seem to remember Antonio Reeves wanting to transfer but he wasn’t sure he had enough credits to graduate and transfer as a grad student (remember the court hadn’t placed an injunction on stopping free for all transfers at the time). He actually went back to Illinois St in the summer and tried to take as many courses as he could and ultimately ended up back at UK.

Agree that he would be a 9th man type player. Those guys typically avg around 10 mpg which is what I said I believed Cupps would play next year.

Saying that Mike Woodson has no intention of using or developing Gabe Cupps because X, X, and X happened in the past is in fact bashing. Nobody on here has any clue how or what Gabe Cupps will look like next year. From my experiences, the best thing about freshman is that they always become sophomores.

This isn't the bash Mike Woodson thread. If you want to do that, take it to the appropriate place. Writing off Gabe Cupps after a single year after being thrusted into a role he wasn't ready for is just silly.

Cupps will be in the rotation next year, 10-15 mpg as a backup 1 guard. Players do get better, especially from freshman to sophomore year.

-Rice AND Conwell/Carlyle -Payne or Williams...I like Aaron Bradshaw here a lot but think he's going to North Carolina -Connor Hickman or Ben Humrichous -Elijah Malone. I think Humrichous fits here as well as a stretch 4 type.

I think we're prioritizing 12 guys for 6 spots but have reached out too much more Realistically, IU needs four transfers. Six is the max they can take. IU needs: -2 starting guards -a defensive 5 who can play 25 mpg whether it be starting or coming off the bench -a shooting guard/wing -possibly a backup 4/5 We currently have 7 scholarship players, hardly anybody plays an 11 man rotation and absolutely nobody plays 13 guys. As far as landing two starting guards, I feel confident where we stand with Myles Rice and then between Perkins, Carlyle, Conwell I think there's your second. I'm confident that we get one of Payne or Williams for your 25 mpg 5. Hickman and Malone from NAIA fill the 4th and 5th transfer spots. Should be noted that guys are still entering the portal in droves. Up to almost 1500 entries with still 23 days left to go.

His brother is currently a sophomore at Notre Dame. Supposedly the motivation for his transfer is to be closer to his daughter in Indy.

Frees up room for Auburn to target Myles Rice harder. I know they are bringing a 5* in but they've lost both PG's from last year to the portal.

That naturally made its way to the discourse along with many other things that were totally fabricated by Rabjohns and co and became massive ammo used against Woodson. Multiply this by every single player who ultimately returned who didn't even put their names in the portal.
