Almost has to bring those 4 starters. He needs to win and win quick. He's not going to get a honeymoon like Crean in the portal era.

Wasn't that Crean and Archie's upside too? Isn't that really the upside for any coach under the age of 50? I don't think many AD's have a 25 year plan in mind when evaluating potential candidates.

Getting Dusty May because Bruce Pearl said no is one thing, if it comes out that Bruce Pearl legitimately wanted the job and IU told him no and hired Dusty May instead.....multiple people should be out of a job and college athletics forever.

Not apples to apples, but a big reason why many fear the hiring of Dusty May. (and yes I know the differences have been laid out by some of the more ardent May supporters)

What do you mean the way they fired Tom Crean? Tom Crean well overstayed his welcome in my opinion.

I have a hard time believing Rabjohns would flip on a sitting head coach as quickly as he has without being told to do so. I'm not the biggest Rabjohns fan but he's definitely very well plugged and has always been one of the last people to defect from a lame duck regime. This seems calculated.

Do you think it's to the point where Woodson is done regardless Pearl's intentions? It's one thing to fire Woodson with a guy lined up ready to go, it's another thing to fire him (like Tom Allen) and conduct a search. What stage are we at now?

I get that Dolson is an IU guy through and through and being head of the athletics department at this university was probably a dream job of his from early on, but at what point do you show a little dignity and stand up for yourself? Assuming Woody gets a 4th year, why not come out and publicly say how things are being run behind the scenes while stepping down with honor? Does anyone really think Dolson is going to survive this whole ordeal anyway? You just know the Woodson failed hired is ultimately going to be pinned on Dolson seeing as he's the AD who "hired" and announced Woodson. Buckner is never going to publicly own this and somebody will have to take the fall. If you're Dolson, why not get out in front of it now?

Agreed. He may not be picked up this cycle but he will be coaching a better program in the next year or two. Winning cures all and the more he wins the more his past is forgotten.

Yep. 7 reasons right there and none have anything to do with this seasons record or outcomes.

Totally an opinion, but my guess is he sees May as the biggest pushover of any potential candidate they may hire and because of that can use his influence on the program without being told no. I've watched a few USC games this year with LeBron in attendance and one notably was an away game at Cal where LeBron was literally on the floor at halftime of the shoot around talking with players of BOTH teams. There's no way a seasoned coach like McDermott or Sean Miller would allow such a charade to take place.

If every flavor of the month panned out there would be very little coaching turnover at the P5 level of D1 college basketball. For every one that pans out, there's 9 that flop, case in point with so many coaching openings each season.

IU isn't bringing back Woodson if they can get Pearl. The only way Woodson is back is if Pearl ultimately says no.

If Dusty doesn't want to follow Pearl after 6-7 years that's on him. In the event Pearl comes to IU, hopefully he makes Indiana relevant again by the time he steps down to the point IU gets the pick of the litter. If it's not Dusty May than so be it.

IU needs to be looking at the next 2-3 years instead of the next 20 years. You mess up this next hire and there's potentially no coming back....20 years from now becomes irrelevant.

Saw Steve Green at the Fishers Fieldhouse this weekend as I do most Saturday's as his grandson and my stepson play on the same basketball team. Didn't talk with him other than in passing but gave me the look as if he didn't know what was happening just yet.

    Bracketology and Team Resumes

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but Wisconsin would have to fall below 30 for IU's win to be bumped to Q2.

Also since we haven’t heard from him in almost a week, user @tyme1299228 on Twitter is very clearly him. Have not seen a single person defend Woody/Xavier Johnson this hard.

Simply put, if Bruce Pearl says he’d accept the job THIS offseason and we hire Dusty May instead, it’s clear where priorities lie.

Fun fact. Steve Kerr’s son married our former neighbors daughter and kids babysitter who is also an IU grad. Make it happen Scott.

Fitzgerald still has a lengthy uphill civil battle to fight on top of any potential fall out from the NCAA while they are still in power. Totally understandable why the university would pass on Fitzgerald at this time, he’s not out of the water yet.

I agree, when the 81 team turned it on after a slow start once Turner got his head out of his a**, they were a juggernaut. Watching the 81 team is one of my favorite childhood memories.

The poster you responded too made ZERO mention of Trilly and you went out of your way to try and discredit him calling this fan base gullible.
