They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
AH1971 replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So Mike Woodson is the first coach in the history of college basketball to give a standoff(ish) answer regarding in-game strategy in a press-conference after a loss? And that makes him "openly hostile"? Congratulations Mike, you've joined an elite club along with 361 other D1 college basketball coaches who have answered a question in similar fashion. Good lord you guys are Charmin soft. -

Name one coach in the history of the game that has discussed an incoming or prospective recruit IN A POST GAME PRESSER? You guys are so paranoid that I'm actually starting to feel sorry for you. -

BS, it was directly from this: "I'm not going to discuss it," Woodson interjected before the reporter could finish their question. "I shouldn't have to sit here in front of you guys and discuss my job. No comment." That wasn't the end of it, though. Two questions later, when asked if he felt the support of IU's administration, Woodson doubled-down in his response. "I'm not discussing with you guys my job. I shouldn't have to do that," Woodson said. "I feel good in my skin in terms of my job." https://247sports.com/college/indiana/article/mike-woodson-says-he-wont-answer-questions-about-recruiting-or-his-job-228312338/ -

Lol. Refusing to comment on your job status during a press conference after a game while currently employed does not make one "openly hostile". He's under ZERO obligation, from any media member or fan, to comment on his employment. Nice try though. -

Behind closed doors, I think you'd be shocked to find out how many coaches are arrogant and egotistical pricks. Most competitive people are. -

It will quickly pivot to "well he had a $6 million dollar roster" Face it, the majority of the Fire Woodson Brigade fell for the idea that he was getting fired at the end of the year and replaced with Bruce Pearl (who admittedly would have been an upgrade) and can't let it go. Mob mentality will always rule. -
(2025)- Trent Sisley to INDIANA

Not sure he starts at Montverde if we’re being honest. I like Sisley and hope he’s a Hoosier, don’t think he’s a can’t miss prospect though. -

I listened to all 1:22:00 of it. That’s THEIR account of what happened with Evans. They “conveniently” left out all the times they trashed Woodson on their podcast back in February and all the different times Eric trashed Woodson on Peegs chat, many comments that were directly relayed and posted on Trilly’s discord. If you want to believe this entire decision was made because they had Brian Evans in their show, go for it. I’ll continue to call you naive. If you’re going to run a business built on promoting Indiana basketball with the privilege of having access to the program, players, staff, and future recruits…it’s wise to pick and choose who and what is said on your podcast. Simple Business 101, it ain’t that hard. -

Bozich misses the point by a mile. HH are more than entitled to have a podcast to talk and discuss anything they want. But they shouldn’t be surprised that their access was revoked after trashing a sitting head coach all while maintaining their goal is to promote the program. Cannot have it both ways. -

Eric used his name publicly on Peegs forum and openly trashed Woodson. What did he think was going to happen? -

LOL if you think Brian Evans is the sole reason for this? That's THEIR version of what went down. Those guys, along with Rabby, were some of the most critical "voices" in February last year and openly talked about replacements for Woodson in-season. Eric feed Trilly a bunch of nonsense that proved to be bogus. Why on Earth would Woodson continue to give access to those guys? -

"A couple of fans" don't have access to the program like these clowns do, or did at least. Their charade was entirely for self-promotion and they entirely abused their privilege. What's the saying, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you"? -

Meh, doesn't bother me. Just further reinforces that these pompous pricks didn't deserve to be anywhere near the program. They showed their true colors on the way out, expected nothing less. -

What advantage does Woodson gain by commenting on this publicly? Those guys just showed their a** (again) for over an hour straight. There's nothing left that needs to be said about these guys now that their access has finally been revoked. Most IU fans overwhelmingly support these two being shown the door. -
With all the waivers the NCAA has handed out the last 5-6 years, I wouldn't be surprised if he got one if he actively pursued it.

These guys no longer have a platform worth listening too without access to the men's program. I'll give it a year, maybe two before their brand (finally) goes quietly into the night. -

Most ironic part of the podcast is those two repeatedly saying “it was never about us”. Their entire charade over the years was pure self-promotion. -

Exactly. Two butt hurt clowns airing dirty laundry after being kicked off the gravy train. Petulant is the single word I’d use to describe whatever I just listened too. -

AH1971 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Not sure Sisley has ever been a "lock". I certainly never though he was at least. Purdue has one available scholarship and has been recruiting him the hardest for quite some time. Fland/McNeeley/Queen were all national recruits coveted by everybody. Most of our core targets are local products where IU has had a much better success rate regardless of who is coaching. IU made Mullins a priority well before he was even offered from the major suitors. I like where IU is with Tiller, Mullins, and Haralson and Moreno now more that Calipari is gone. Whiff on all four of those guys, yeah we're going to have a problem. Don't see it though.
