This has been discussed 100 times over. Rice was shooting 36% until an 0-22 slump the last 6 games of the season plummeted his average...call it a "freshman wall". Carlyle shot over 40% from 3 playing off the ball, a role he will primarily play here at Indiana. But glad you know how to read a box score.
-
38% on volume for a true freshman in a 20 game conference slate isn't good? You're an idiot!
-
No I didn't. The direct player named improved his shooting tenfold in a matter of months.
-
Rice and Carlyle will be All-American's if teams sag off them like they did Galloway, Cupps, XJ last year.
-
What does that have to do with the Mgbako who was named specifically who unequivocally improved his shooting? Over the course of his freshman season nonetheless.
-
Mgbako shot 22% (10/44) November/December and 37% (40/109) Jan-March. But yeah....narratives.

HSN. Just wasted an hour reading a bunch of fanbois re-living their fantasy.

Dear God no?? When are people going to learn?

Not deadset on anything, just don't believe that surgery rules out a fracture. If he plays against Michigan State we'll have our answer but I fully expect this to drag into the week of Michigan and then get more clarity once the bye week starts.
-
It's not possible to break your fingertip and lose the nail in the process?
-
I never said he wasn't out multiple weeks, just responding to the idea that you couldn't throw or continue playing with a broken thumb. Swelling doesn't set in immediately.
-
Who is they? The only thing IU has said publicly in regards to Rourke's injury is that he's out indefinitely.
-
Raiders Aidan O'Connell finished his series last Sunday with a broken thumb that was just surgically repaired and completed two passes before being pulled.
-
Yes which could potentially end up being huge.
-
Who has been lying to us? I haven't seen anyone give a specific diagnosis other than he suffered a generic "thumb injury". The only thing I've seen publicly is that he had successful surgery yesterday and the early prognosis is better than expected ie a possible return against Michigan State.
-
I would be shocked if we see him before Ohio State.
-
Depending on the severity of the fracture, it's a 3-6 week recovery.
-
You can absolutely bleed from a bone fracture. I've experienced it first hand. No clue if his thumb is broken or not but I don't believe having surgery would rule out a potential break or fracture. If he plays against Michigan State it probably wasn't a fracture, but I'll believe it when I see it.
-
That just isn't true.
-
Really? I would think surgery indicates that there was at least some type of fracture. To what degree who knows but just seems odd that he would be ruled out immediately Sunday morning without any type of break.

Will it though? I’d go as far as to say there’s a world where 4/5 starting spots are already secured next year: Rice, Carlyle, Tucker, and Reneau. You need a starting big (which seems to be Woodson’s niche), another 4/5 type big who can play 20-25 mpg off the bench and then 1-2 depth pieces to compliment Cupps, Newton, and Sisley. God forbid Goode gets a 5th year. -

Of course high school recruiting still matters. But losing out on Braylon Mullins is far from the end of the world. In fact, I’m not sure it’s even worth losing sleep over. IU missed out on their top 3 targets last year and arguably ended up coming out much better because of it. -

The way he constructed his roster last year isn’t remotely close to the way he constructed his roster this last year. Last year he added two Freshman and 3 transfers; Ware, an unproven but ultra-high ceiling prospect, along with Sparks and Walker who were never intended to be anything more than depth/rotational pieces. This year he added 3 high-level, productive P4 transfers who all have a legitimate chance to play in the NBA and one of the better shooters in the country in Luke Goode. And that doesn’t even include 5* freshman Bryson Tucker. The way the two rosters were constructed are so far apart that they aren’t even comparable. Striking out on Fland, Queen, and McNeely means we’re starting 21 year old Myles Rice, 23 year old Ballo and 20 year old returning B10 FOY Mgbako instead of starting three 18-19 year olds. I’ll take that all day long. -

Of the 7 new players, 1 is a freshman and only 4 are expected to be apart of the rotation. Nobody plays 12 or 13 guys. You’re crazy if you think adding 4-5 new faces a year is outside the norm. It’s standard practice in this climate.
