Drake probably my guess unless he outplays Enright. Whoever emerges between Dorn and Miles will play more. Alexis would still need to earn his minutes.

I do remember what I had for breakfast (bagel sandwich and coffee, 2 sugars 1 cream) and feel perfectly comfortable expressing my opinion on a message board. Thanks for chiming in.

Sam Alexis to Indiana from Florida

10-15 mpg seems appropriate. He's moves much better than Sparks and is a lot better defensively. Anything you get from him offensively is a luxury, should never be an instance where he is on the court and scoring around him is a concern.

Of course. You still have a massive deficiency at the 5 defensively. You have close to 20 mpg to sell at the 5 spot, which is right in Federiko's wheelhouse.

What's confusing? He's not a 30+ mpg player in the B10. He was barely a 30 mpg player on a terrible A10 team. Brings a lot offensively, he gives you next to nothing defensively. IU isn't good enough defensively 1-4 for him to play the bulk of his minutes at the 5. And if he is playing the bulk of his minutes at the 5, it'd be an equal rotation with someone like Miller or Federiko....I could live with that.

Bailey isn't going to play more than 25 mpg, he's not good enough defensively at either spot. Telling me that in the event they sign Federiko/Miller on top of Alexis, that duo is only going to play ~15 mpg? Nonsense.

Not if they sign Federiko or Miller. And I don't really care who starts the game. I care more about minute allocation and Bailey won't play the bulk of his minutes at the 5 if they do get a legit rim protector.

Sam Alexis to Indiana from Florida

I don't know what you were expecting out of the 5 spot, especially offensively, given the remaining personnel? You were never going to get a high usage center with DeVries, Wilkerson, etc....it's not needed. With Alexis signed, get Federiko, and you can count on 35 solid minutes of defending and rim protection out of the 5 spot. Can play Bailey at the 5 in spurts if you need offense.

What vision were you looking for out of a 15 mpg depth piece?

Alexis and Hansberry almost identical size wise. DeVries got a lot out of Hansberry last year after a non-existent freshman season at Illinois. I think Alexis checks a ton of boxes.

Would be highly entertaining but I think you condense the floor that much more, especially if the big is a defensive oriented rim protector. Conerway nor Claude shoot it particularly well from the perimeter.

I don’t think he’s coming here. Going to be too out of budget.

He’s much closer to a 1 than a 2 or 3 with how much the ball is in his hand. He’s likely a better polished college version of JHS. Which isn’t a bad thing, but what do you then with Enright/Conerway? None of those 3 are good enough shooters to play together in the back court.

Would definitely start, but now you're getting into the "only one ball" territory. Unless Wilkerson and DeVries become catch and shoot guys, that's a lot of high usage players on the court at once.

    IUFB Offseason Updates

With Kamara moving to the STUD position replacing Carr, guessing the two new transfers (Daley and Wyatt) will compete to fill Kamara's vacancy on the other side of the line. Also think Landino moves inside. Like Garcia a lot and think he will get some snaps early, but guess he preserves a redshirt unless there is an injury. Staff was working hard to add the Ohio DT who ended up at Maryland so they may not be done.
  16. I think it may be a positional thing more than skill set. I think Dorn is a much better catch and shoot guy and and could end up being a very good 3 and D guy for somebody down the line. His efficiency really takes a tumble once you make him put it on the floor as he did not shoot it well off the bounce last year. Miles appears to be more bouncy and a more natural three level scorer. Both could co-exist on the floor together but with Wilkerson and DeVries also out on the perimeter, minutes are limited. Miles as a natural 2 guard and Dorn as a 3 and D wing two years from now would get me excited but that's a tough sell in the present.

    2025-2026 IUBB Season Expectations

I don't think he starts. I think you'll see a rim protecting big, 3 wing shooters (DeVries and Wilkerson are locks), and then Conerway. The above lineup is really bad defensively out on the perimeter and Bailey is still going to struggle guarding quicker, smaller 4's. I think Bailey will play the 4 and 5 next year tailored to the remaining personnel. 25-27 mpg sounds about right.

With Dorn? Dorn put up similar numbers to Miles in a much better conference. Not convinced Miles is that much better than Dorn, if better at all, at least offensively. Not a bad problem to have either.

    2025-2026 IUBB Season Expectations

Last years West Virginia team was extremely long and athletic, especially out on the perimeter. They shot 32% from 3 as a team. They were one of the best defensive teams in the country. Next years team will rival some of the good Fran Iowa teams in my opinion. That's the anti-thesis of last years West Virginia team.

    2025-2026 IUBB Season Expectations

Huh? Javon Small was a ball dominant, scoring first PG who could light it up from distance----Enright/Conerway had two of the highest assist rates in the country last year and will be pass first PG's in this system; neither are good 3 pt shooters Okani/Harris were lengthy, athletic slashers slashers who excelled defensively----Wilkerson/Miles are high usage, three level scorers not known for defense that lack elite athleticism Hansberry and Bailey's games aren't comparable. Bailey is a skilled point forward, Hansberry is a rim runner. I don't think DeVries West Virginia team and his first IU team could be more opposite if we're being honest. DeVries WVU teams wore opponents down defensively, IU more than likely going to have to outscore the opposition next year given the personnel.

I don't think next years roster looks anything like his West Virginia roster.

    2025-2026 IUBB Season Expectations

Bailey is a luxury in my opinion because offensively you can play him at the 4 and 5. Assuming we add a solid rim protector at the 5 who isn't offensively gifted, I think you'll see Bailey get split minutes at both spots.

He must have a ton of upside because he's not exactly tearing it up on a mid-table Greek team after being loaned out from the top team in Greece. Would think a year of college ball could really help is game. Did wonders for KJ at Illinois and Demin at BYU.

There are always outliers to every norm. You can expect whatever the hell you want, not telling you otherwise. But this fanbases expectations haven't jived with reality for much of the last 20 years. It'll click one day....I hope at least.
