Ok and? I don’t believe a single word that comes out of your mouth. I’m simply pointing out how/why Woodson would have inside information to the coaching search to all those that are under the impression that Woodson would be the last to know. He’s extremely close to two of the highest people around.
-
You don’t think Ferguson and/or Cindy SS are privy to what is going on behind the scenes lol? Even if they aren’t directly talking to or about McDermott. Good lord.
-
Because I wasn’t here 8 hours ago… But yes doing exactly that lol.
-
Absolutely. Woodson is extremely close with both Ferguson and Cindy SS.
-
You called him a nut job for being religious lol.
-
Does this website have closed captioning?
-
If that's truly the case, either hell has frozen over or Dolson has been taken behind the woodshed one too many times.
-
Good idea, that's basically what this thread is now.
-
I'd imagine a Brad Stevens only thread would rival a Joel Osteen telethon.
-
Is it still free? Not going to pay for equally bad intel when I can readily get it here.

Haven't been on the Rivals board in 5 or 6 years
-
Blasphemy. It's a free message board and all opinions are welcomed except the ones that go against the herd mentality

I think Drew has a much better chance than Otzelberger although Drew just turned down Louisville and Kentucky last year. I do think Baylor struggling this year may signal that Drew has achieved all that he can at Baylor but if his wife is as ardent as some say she is, she may be running the show. Honestly wouldn't be shocked to see Drew coach another year or two at Baylor and retire. Not like he couldn't if he wanted too.
-
I put Brownell in a tier above McCollum and Byington because Brownell is at least an older and experienced coach. The other two are younger and it's not exactly a secret that Dolson prefers older, experienced coaches.
-
No doubt, but in a world where Scott Drew (and more importantly his wife) don't want to uproot their lives and everything they've built in Waco coupled with Otzelberger being perfectly content Ames, Brad Brownell becomes a much more realistic candidate than 95% of people on this board want to believe. All that I was alluding too this morning. I definitely see a scenario where Scott Drew and TJ Otzelberger pass on the IU job, in fact, in wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Hmm...I seem to have posted nearly an identical list several hours ago and got crucified for it. Let's see if Trilly loses his base and is called delusional.

Mark Turgeon - A Coaching Candidate? Or Not
AH1971 replied to #1fanofafrin's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Mark Turgeon finished top 3 in the B10 in 4/7 seasons while at Maryland and won it the year COVID cancelled the tournament. What are you talking about? -
What is this lol? Certain candidates with a 0% chance of coaching IU can be discussed ad nauseum but others who push a candidate with the same odds get ostracized? How the hell does that work? Remember, it's a free message board

Mark Turgeon - A Coaching Candidate? Or Not
AH1971 replied to #1fanofafrin's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Can you start a separate thread for Brad Stevens while you're at it, seeing as both Brad and Turg have the same chance of coaching IU next year? Please and thanks. -
By no means a ringing endorsement for Turgeon, but his average B10 finish is 4th and his best team had their tournament cancelled due to COVID in a year they won the B10. I don't think he'd be a great fit at IU, but I also didn't think he would be at Maryland either and he did alright for himself.

Why do people act this way? This list has 1. One of the frontrunners for NCOY (May) 2. A guy whose had Iowa State a top 5 team in the country back to back years (Otzelberger) 3. A coach who has made the tournament 15/16 years and has a .700 winning % in a P5 conference (Cronin) 4. A longshot that has won multiple NCAAT (Donovan) 5. An experienced but average coach in Chris Holtmann If those are indeed the 5 candidates, Dolson will have done an excellent job. Who do you expect IU to hire lol?
-
For having a realistic perspective? Otzelberger would be a home run and Drew would be a very solid hire. I wouldn't be thrilled with Brownell but would be interesting if given the right resources and support, his honey-moon would last about 2 weeks however. McCollum/Byington are a flip of the coin. Who do you think IU is hiring?
-
Of course he would, he's on TV right now. That's my point. This job isn't (as) appealing to well-established coaches currently in a good and supporting environment. There's zero reason for somebody like Nate Oats or Bruce Pearl or even Dusty May to leave their current jobs for IU even though IU has more history. I'm telling you not to act surprised when IU hires either an up and comer from the lower ranks or a "mediocre P5 coach".
-
I know all of that already. That optics of running off a coach who has made the tournament 3/4 years isn't appealing to a well-established coach currently in a good situation. This is a huge reason why Dusty May wasn't interested in the IU job.
-
Still can't admit you're wrong that IU doesn't fire and remove coaches mid-season for poor performance? Sad
