Transfer Portal w IU Interest
AH1971 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This isn't the bash Mike Woodson thread. If you want to do that, take it to the appropriate place. Writing off Gabe Cupps after a single year after being thrusted into a role he wasn't ready for is just silly. -

He wouldn't have recruited Cupps if that were the case... -

Cupps will be in the rotation next year, 10-15 mpg as a backup 1 guard. Players do get better, especially from freshman to sophomore year. -

-Rice AND Conwell/Carlyle -Payne or Williams...I like Aaron Bradshaw here a lot but think he's going to North Carolina -Connor Hickman or Ben Humrichous -Elijah Malone. I think Humrichous fits here as well as a stretch 4 type. -

I think we're prioritizing 12 guys for 6 spots but have reached out too much more Realistically, IU needs four transfers. Six is the max they can take. IU needs: -2 starting guards -a defensive 5 who can play 25 mpg whether it be starting or coming off the bench -a shooting guard/wing -possibly a backup 4/5 We currently have 7 scholarship players, hardly anybody plays an 11 man rotation and absolutely nobody plays 13 guys. As far as landing two starting guards, I feel confident where we stand with Myles Rice and then between Perkins, Carlyle, Conwell I think there's your second. I'm confident that we get one of Payne or Williams for your 25 mpg 5. Hickman and Malone from NAIA fill the 4th and 5th transfer spots. Should be noted that guys are still entering the portal in droves. Up to almost 1500 entries with still 23 days left to go. -
His brother is currently a sophomore at Notre Dame. Supposedly the motivation for his transfer is to be closer to his daughter in Indy.
-
Don’t know about hard, but he’s the only other school I’ve seen linked with Rice.

Frees up room for Auburn to target Myles Rice harder. I know they are bringing a 5* in but they've lost both PG's from last year to the portal.

I'm not talking about the night before Sr night. I'm talking about in mid to late February when the Pearl rumors started to circulate and the Trilly discourse became a thing. We had a poster on here who said Galloway was going to walk on senior night and was interested in attending Purdue of all places. That naturally made its way to the discourse along with many other things that were totally fabricated by Rabjohns and co and became massive ammo used against Woodson. Multiply this by every single player who ultimately returned who didn't even put their names in the portal. -

Anyone Still Want to ‘Fire Scott Dolson’?

What does that have to do with the AD? You're giving the AD way too much credit on this hire. He wasn't even a target until a donor stepped up and paid for it all. He struck out on everyone he was targeting beforehand. Most Arkansas fans wanted HY out up until 11pm last night. -

I don't really get the "Pro-Woodson" moniker. I've made several posts in the last few months stating I would have been content with moving on from Woodson after 3 years. But it needed to be a big name hire. I wasn't on board with dumping Woodson for somebody like Dusty May. Now that it has been announced that he is getting a 4th year, I'm going to support both him and the program that I have followed for over 50 years. I'm certainly not going to perpetuate half-truths and narratives to drive an agenda. If that makes me pro-woodson, sue me I guess. But there were more than enough posts, actually pages worth, that ran with some narrative that Woodson was going to lose his entire team and that alone was a fireable offense. There was once poster in general (who is no longer with us) that universally rejected that notion, called out the BS, etc and as it turns out, was in fact correct. Nothing more, nothing less. Realize that poster was very condescending and I didn't appreciate it either, but he brought a lot more accurate information to the board before calling it quits than a lot of stuff that has been thrown around the last 5 or 6 weeks. I can tell it's getting under some people's skin. -

Pretty sure Stuhoo was one of the few with very little desire to hire Bruce Pearl. I could be wrong though. Pretty much said the same thing about Pearl as he's saying about Cal. -

Galloway leaving. Leal leaving. Cupps leaving. Reneau and Mgbako leaving. Pretty much all the info that was relayed to him (from guys like Rabjohns) that stated there would be a mass exodus and an empty cupboard to start next season. NGW/Tyme rejected that from the start. -

And really this has nothing to do with Arkansas AD's, he did nothing of substance. Jerome Tang and Chris Beard both turned down the job Saturday and Yurachek was pivoting towards Miss St coach Chris Jans and UALR coach Darrell Walker as early as yesterday morning. It wasn't until John Tyson, CEO of Tyson Foods and Calipari's drinking buddy, came to the AD and fronted the money for Calipari's salary and NIL expenditures. -
No, no, no I get all that. That doesn't need to be explained. Getting hellbent on golfing at the F4 has zero to do with the novel you just posted. None of that equates to anything you or others have tried to tie this too. If he's out golfing during the middle of an AAU event or when a key recruit is in town, etc etc by all means burn him at the stake. But this instance of golfing at the F4 while at a coaching convention during a dead recruiting period is a nothing burger. You know that, I know that, everybody pretending to be upset knows that.

Yeah nothing more than a hunch. Would likely be a high demand guy but something I think the staff could sell Ware's progression and development to him on. -

A lot of parallels to Ware. Coach just left for Arkansas. High school teammates of Mgbako. We need rim protection Guessing good chance he enters the portal. -

Aaron Bradshaw is a potential name I would keep an eye on. Former top 5 recruit who underwhelmed at Kentucky his freshman year after battling some early season injuries. Remarkably similar build to Ware. High school teammate of Mgbako. -
Imagine getting caught up in verbiage as some kind of “gotcha” moment that isn’t at all what you think it is. Regardless if he’s obligated to attend or not, everybody goes to this event. Scott Drew is there. Mark Few. So is Kelvin Sampson, so is Bruce Pearl. Brian Dutcher, Sean Miller, Dana Altman, etc If you want to die on this hill that playing golf at some well attended coaching convention at the F4 is some mortal sin…..be my guest. I’m not stopping you.

I love how you conveniently glossed over these posts….but narratives.
