They also beat a healthy Tennessee team by 30 earlier this year and just won at Auburn.
-
No. Their NIL sucks.
-
zero interest.
-
I don't care man. I wouldn't expect someone who has never played an organized sport in their life to understand either. Knight is one of the best motivators of all-time and there is a hundred different people who will all relay that sentiment.
-
Motivational tactic, RMK did the same thing plenty. They're 8-1 since he called his team soft and on a 7 game winning streak. Stuff like that works you know.
-
He's publicly called out the NIL situation at UCLA. He did fundraising himself which is absolutely wild at a school like UCLA. His floor at IU is a 6 or 7 seed every season. I'm not sure how a single IU fan can turn that down?
-
He's been to a F4 and won 31 games as a 2 seed after losing his entire roster.
-
UCLA's NIL is terrible and have very bad fan support for a program with as much accolades as UCLA. He's doing fine there.
-
What do you mean he's not meeting expectations at UCLA?
-
And this is why we shuffle coaches every Leap year.
-
Big(er) name. He'd be Tier 2 for me.
-
But Dusty May and Brad Stevens who hasn't coached collegiately in over a year do? Not sure I follow this logic. Of the guys who would potentially leave their jobs to come to IU, Cronin is at or very near the top of the list.
-
Why? He wins?
-
Certainly not the gap between the two where you scoff at one and then call the other a no-brainer. Cronin is an entirely better fit at IU than Beard which is more than half the battle.
-
His buyout is definitely a detriment but if we have the money that Stevens is supposedly commanding, we'll have enough for Cronin.
-
What's wild about it? He's won 70% of his conference games at UCLA. He's been to the second weekend of the tournament in three out of the last four seasons....one less time than IU has the last 30 seasons. Astounding that people think IU is too good for Mick Cronin. He's too good for us honestly but I believe he's ready for a change of scenery.
-
How is Cronin not a top 15 coach? I'd argue he's closer to top 10 than he is 15. He's made 12/13 tournaments, been to the 2nd weekend 3/4 years and his team is currently playing their best basketball of the season right now.
-
Is the fanbase really in position to chide a proven P5 coach who has a 30 win season and a F4 all within the last 5 years? Like I said a week ago, this place is going to be an absolute mess when Dusty signs that extension and Stevens turns us down. You won't find a more qualified coach that is potentially willing to come to IU than Cronin.
-
Would take Will Wade in a heartbeat.
-
Would love Cronin, he's my 1b behind Otzelberger who I don't think would take the job.
-
Huh?
-
I seem to recall May coming within hours, maybe minutes of taking the Louisville job and then Michigan came in at the eleventh hour and kind of blew everything up. A lot of Louisville people thought May was accepting the job on the day he signed with Michigan.
-
I’ve been told he was closer to taking the Louisville job than Kentucky job. Junior Bridgeman is a wealthy donor and alum there from the Region who is great friends with Drew family, and even he couldn’t persuade the wife.
-
His wife wanted no part of #BBN.
-
Is the guy not allowed to be a fan of IU while also not wanting to coach there? I’m sure the Stevens are sick and tired of having to quell these rumors every few years.
