He has a top 10-15 roster next year, who cares how old he is? And he’s not 68 either. So theoretically, had IU hired any other coach who was younger than say 50, these last 3 years are now somehow now respectable? But they aren’t because of the coach’s age? It’s ok for a younger coach to lose? Most mind-numbingly dumb thing I’ve ever heard. Narratives…..I get it.

*upset (twice) with a plethora of NBA talent. Context remember, don’t leave it out. And JFC, nobody is comparing Woodson to Hurley. I’m comparing the standard to which this board has held Woodson through 3 seasons to the standard UConn held Hurley through 4 years….which was much worse. It’s a direct response to a poster who said a real basketball program wouldn’t have tolerated Woodson’s first 3 seasons.
-
He had 4 future NBA players the year they were upset by Maryland in the first round including lottery pick James Bouknight and then another 4 future NBA players the following year when they lost as a 5 seed to New Mexico St, three of them who remained for the following seasons title team. So glad you could clear up that context.

Delusional…

People were calling for Archie's head after year 2. He lost 12/13 games with a top 5 recruit and an All B10 player in Juwan Morgan.
-
So by that logic, a big boy program like UConn would have fired Danny Hurley for not winning a single tournament game in 4 years? Thank you for making my point.
-
Lol. You disagreed with an opinion I shared and inferred I was on drugs. The hell else do you call that?

Pot meet Kettle?

And he immediately took a program who hadn't played in an NCAAT game since 2016 back to the dance in consecutive years. Judging your age, you can count on one hand the number of times IU has played in consecutive tournaments in your lifetime. I'm not sure what kind of immediate success you were looking for?
-
Who said he was? But Danny Hurley would have been unemployed if we let people like you make executive decisions.
-
And based on your Twitter feed, I don't even want to know what kind of extra-circulars you partake in. #whackjob

I'm not comparing Mike Woodson to Dan Hurley. I was commenting on the ridiculous assertion that if your head coach doesn't achieve pinnacle results in his first 3 seasons he must be shown the door or otherwise be relegated to a program who doesn't care. I'm just playing your guys game.
-
This board would have fired Dan Hurley based on his first 4 seasons, no? 2 Missed tournaments, an outright losing record, and two first round losses as a better seed? Tell me where I'm wrong?
-
Dan Hurley in his first 4 years at UConn: 16-17 no tournament 19-12 tournament cancelled (squarely on the bubble but most likely on the outside looking in) 15-8 #7 seed lost to #10 Maryland 63-54 in the first round 23-10 #5 seed lost to #12 seed New Mexico State 70-63 in the first round Imagine if their administration acted like one of the "big boys"?

Certain posters are doubling and tripling down and staking their sanity on it. Will be interesting to see how full the wagon gets next spring.

These people are going to be miserable for the next 9-10 months.

Did you like your own post? Bizarre behavior

Trent Sisley is an Outstanding Hoosier and (2025) SG - to UConn Thread

Are we sure Luke Goode won't be back? Played in only 10 games his sophomore year due to injury and have heard he is potentially eligible for a medical redshirt giving him a 5th season. -
Flurry of offers since. Northwestern, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have all offered in the last 24 hours as well. Koehler is going to be a high-major play.
-
Was just offered by Stanford today. He’s an intriguing prospect and may not be done growing. I think he has a higher ceiling than Sisley.
-
His AAU stats were terrible. Averaged 3 ppg and shot worse than 20% on Team Renaissance with RJ Davis and Jonathan Kuminga. He averaged 26 ppg in Pittsburgh and was the Pennsylvania POY his senior season. Guessing Pittsburgh HS basketball is extremely bad.
-
If .500 is considered average, what else would you call a coach who is slightly above .500? I'm not sure what you're taking exception too lol.
-
These people would lead you to believe Woodson's tenure has rivaled Crean's first 3 seasons. It's laughable. I think people forget Woodson has a winning record against Brad Underwood and is .500 against Izzo and Painter. Those three are widely considered the three best coaches in the B10. He certainly hasn't blown expectations out of the water through 3 years, but far from the dope many are making him out to be. The crux of the situation is that you had several people on this board fall for the rumors that Woodson was out and was going to be replaced with Bruce Pearl. So many people got their hopes up only to have that dream crushed by the administration and it's turned into complete mob rule ever since. Winning cures all and I'm sure with a good showing this year a large majority of the crybabies will come around, but I'm afraid there will still be a good portion who have doubled and tripled down and will stay miserable just because. Every fan base has those types.

Who is tempering expectations?

No coach would have won consistently at the level IU plays at with last years guard play. And while that doesn't excuse the staff, they've obviously addressed it this year. My father was a high school basketball coach once upon a time and still reminds me from time to time that Gene Keady at a coaching clinic once said, "Good coaching accounts for about 3-4 wins a year, the rest comes from the talent surrounding you".
