It's almost as if 3 potential games in a pre-season tournament littered with Q1 and Q2 opponents aren't on the list. Hmmm. Add Providence/Oklahoma/Louisville, Gonzaga, and Arizona to that list and now tell me what the schedule potentially looks like?

Good catch. Oklahoma should be the third team.

JFC, Purdue "scheduled" two of their five good non-conference games. The rest were by virtue of playing (and winning) in Maui which is no different than us playing in the Bahamas this year. We will play at worst a Q2 opponent in round 1 and then likely Gonzaga/Arizona in round 2. Win your first two games in the Bahamas and there's a good chance you're leaving with 3 Q1 opponents on the schedule, the same amount as last years non-conference schedule.

I'll eat my foot if Providence, Louisville, and Providence all end up sub 60 in the NET by seasons end. In fact, I'll bet 2/3 are tournament teams.

I have zero issues with the schedule. There's enough Q1/Q2 opportunities to bolster the tournament resume and we avoid playing several sub 300 teams like in years past. For those that follow and understand college basketball outside IU, teams like UNC-Greensboro, Sam Houston, Winthrop, etc are all solid mid-major programs who are good enough to win their conference, conferences that have been to known to pull upsets in the NCAAT. These aren't sub 300 level opponents who significantly drag down SOS.

Could have, sure. Not needed with 3 games against Q1/Q2 opponents in the Bahamas however. Don't hurt yourself overthinking this one.

It's starts next year. KU and Kentucky six out of seven years sure beats the hell out of the Crossroads Classic.

Good for them, you peep their non-conference schedule last year? Makes ours look like Murderer's Row this year.

Got out of the Crossroads to play KU x2 and UK x4 on that weekend. God forbid.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the schedule. It's no different than any other year in terms of mixture between quality and tune up. In fact, it'll likely end up being better than last year top to bottom once Bahamas plays out. It's nowhere close to Crean or Archie levels of creampuff, but I get it, it's a Tuesday and everyone has a quota to fill when it comes to b****** and moaning. Woodson could have schedule the Eastern Conference Central division and the majority of you would have still found a way to complain. Oh well, par for the course.

We play a lot less "cupcakes" this year than we did last year. There's 3 sub 200 teams per Torvik on the schedule. There were 6 last year. The draw in the Atlantis will end up determining just how tough it actually is but in a world where IU plays say Providence/Oklahoma/Louisville in Rd 1, Arizona Rd 2, and Gonzaga in the championship it's going to end up being a much tougher schedule than last year.

Providence is a fringe top 25 team and Louisville will be much improved with an actual coach and actual roster this year. I'm willing to let the season, let alone the tournament, play out before calling it the "worst field ever".

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

It's got two preseason top 10 team (Arizona + Gonzaga), a top 15-20 team (Indiana), and another fringe top 25 team in Providence. Win the first game and you're almost assured to have 3 Q1 opponents on your resume. I'm not sure what the fuss is about?

They'll most likely play three P5 teams in Atlantis and then another P5 team in South Carolina. Every team in America schedules 5-6 "cupcakes", why is this any different?

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

It's 10x harder this November than it was last November once you factor in Battle for Atlantis. South Carolina was a tournament team last year and UNC-Greensboro is no slouch.

His model doesn't change, it certainly doesn't factor in a "coaching" aspect. It's likely the product of rosters finalizing ie players withdrawing from the draft, late portal additions, etc

Torvik's model is not only based on returning production but also heavily weighs efficiency. Let's be honest, Rice, Carlyle, and Mgbako weren't the most efficient players last year, most freshman aren't.
  18. Announcing his commitment today at 1pm. Supposedly choosing between IU, Purdue, and West Virginia. Did visit Oklahoma recently as well.

That’s your opinion. I’m willing to see how this year plays out with a top 10 roster.

Didn’t call you any names. But your post was garbage and as a proclaimed Knicks fan, you of all people should know that management, not Woodson, was the problem. Mills/Jackson had what, 6 coaches in 8 years? But yeah, “WOoDY’S ENtITlEd”

Just felt compelled to respond to your BS because there are actually people that dense on here who will read whatever that drivel is you wrote and believe it.

As a NYK fan, you should know the only reason he was fired was because Steve Mills was so bad at his job that they had to bring in Phil Jackson. And Phil Jackson cleaned house within a week which lead to Derek Fisher being hired where he subsequently won 17 games and didn’t even make it to the ASG in year two. The Mills/Jackson era is one of the worst in franchise history. The Knicks went downhill the second they demoted Grunwald after a season in which Woodson won 54 games, a total that hasn’t been bested since. But yeah, preach about Woodson and entitlement lol. Woodson was the least of the Knicks problems.
  23. It doesn’t matter. They were openly bashing the program, regardless if they were right or not in their assessment. This isn’t hard people.
  24. He didn’t lose a large portion of the fan base, he lost a very loud minority. Most level-headed people aren’t happy with the way last season played out, but understand losing a program great in TJD and an additional 1st rd pick was likely going to lead to some regression, and firing somebody after a single bad season wasn’t going to happen. Places like this represent a fraction of the actual fan base. I read BTownBanners, Rivals, Inside The Hall, and HSN and this place by far is the most insecure when it comes to Woodson. Woodson is absolutely in a prove it year, but way too many people bought into the false hype and rumors perpetuated by some of the bigger name voices who cover Indiana basketball.
