Very unlikely...to the point there's no reason to even think about. Could possibly see a victory lap at his alma mater with Oklahoma State but even then I put the chances at slim to none. He's 62 with some pretty serious heart issues and has nothing left to prove.

Most wins, best/historical gym, James Naismith...yeah Kansas is the epicenter of college basketball
-
I think there's a better chance Brad Stevens coaches IU next year over Bill Self and I currently have Brad Stevens coaching IU at 0%.
-
What's funny about that?
-
I just don't see a world where Bill Self voluntarily leaves the mecca of college basketball to go coach at Indiana University.
-
Yes. Missed the tournament two years ago after collapsing during the B12 tournament.
-
Kansas isn't firing Bill Self after this season. C'mon.
-
I see absolutely ZERO incentive for Bill Self to ever coach again once his time at Kansas is up. Has nothing left to prove and has health issues.
-
They would have given UConn everything they wanted had Shead not gotten hurt in the S16 against Duke last year.
-
Sampson is 34-4 in the B12 since Houston came over. Many doubted Houston being an American conference member. His run the last 7-8 seasons at Houston is remarkable.
-
A St. John's/Houston national title game would be epic (assuming IU is eliminated of course)
-
A real jack of all trades

Probably the only coach who could take your 5 and beat you with them. Dude doesn't care about stars or rankings, just recruits dogs who aren't afraid to compete.
-
He's the best coach in college basketball

And Sean Miller was caught on the same FBI wire tap talking to the same FBI subject (Christian Dawkins) facilitating payments to DeAndre Ayton. But since Will Wade was a mid-30’s, up and comer at a non-basketball school…the NCAA had to bury somebody.
-
Perhaps “made an example of” triggers you less?
-
He didn’t cooperate with the NCAA because he was being railroaded while guys like Bill Self and Sean Miller got off Scot-free
-
WTF?
-
It's still an above average job with blue blood expectations. Your feet are held to the fire the second you step foot on campus and you're burned alive at the stake by year 3 if desired levels of success aren't achieved. That downside far outweighs having money to buy a new roster every year, which doesn't guarantee anything.
-
I mean he's had a top 20 KenPom team the last two seasons and has decade plus worth of experience coaching P5 basketball. Would he be a candidate at Duke or Kansas? Probably not, but Indiana isn't close to Duke or Kansas right now.
-
I'd hire DeVries over McCollum too given the choice between either and assuming both were available and interested. Very rarely do schools get their top choice however.
-
I don't believe Dolson put all his eggs in one basketball on this one, despite what we've been told. I do believe he made an obligatory call to Stevens once Woodson's retirement was announced but don't believe it went much further than that. Poaching somebody like May, Drew, or Otzelberger was always going to be an uphill battle given the state of the program. Any other school that has missed the tournament more times than they've made it the last quarter century would be thrilled with a candidate list that included Brownell, McCollum, Collins, etc
-
Would DeVries take the Iowa job? He'd seem like a logical replacement for McDermott here whom I can't see coaching forever.
-
Hamilton was absolutely persuaded to step down and retire. They’ve been awful the last three years and he’s currently being sued by nearly a dozen former players over NIL issues. Obviously he earned a lot more grace than Woodson, but he was absolutely told his time was up. Either way, it’s all irrelevant. A coach hasn’t been announced because one hasn’t been hired, not because IU is doing Woodson a favor.
-
Who cares? Leonard Hamilton, who has been at Florida State a hell of a lot longer than Woodson has at IU, announced his retirement a month ago and Florida State hired and announced their new coach within 2 weeks. The reason nobody has been announced is because nobody has been hired.
