Interested to see what, if any staff follows. Amani Hansberry and Sencire Harris who are both solid role players that excel on the defensive end seem tied to Chester Frazier who played at Illinois and coached there the year prior. Ostrom has been around a ton of good basketball, his tenure at IU with Archie be damned.
-
And turned it down a second time lol
-
Or that Dolson isn’t fit to run a CYO athletic department, let alone a B10 athletic department. These people think we’re stupid lol
-
IU wasn’t hiring anybody in the middle of the season. That was obvious. Yes I figured once the regular season concluded actual talks and face to face meeting with coaches would start taking place.
-
Dusty signed his extension over a month ago. You’re telling me a B10 athletic director and a B10 administration thought they had a coach locked up on a verbal agreement for over a month? No deadline to sign? Didn’t bother to follow up at all until the absolute end of the season? Do you really think the majority of this board is that stupid?
-
So Dolson and Stevens had a handshake agreement for over a month causing Dolson to not pursue May, Drew, Otzelberger and it fell apart….again….at the last minute. And you believe that? Good lord
-
Lol

MVC way down this year. 17/18 players who made all-conference last year either graduated or transferred out. Should have been a two bid league.
-
The fanbase is a huge problem. Lucky to have DeVries. Should be able to bring over a solid core + a few recruits. God forbid Goode and Small get hardship waivers for injuries suffered as underclassmen? Could have a very good roster before even dipping into the portal. Hope he’s given a chance. This is a solid B+ hire all things considered.
-
How many “insiders” mentioned DeVries name once in the last 6-8 weeks? lol
-
Ya that’s not how that works.
-
So he’d meet with Iowa, a program known to have one of the smallest NIL basketball budgets, to leverage an already stable NIL environment at West Virginia? Something is not tracking.
-
Sorry...I shouldn't have said that. Just was getting frustrated with the absolutes being used in saying Stevens was or is never going to happen. You're entitled to your opinions like everyone else. Again....sorry Brad Stevens is absolutely not coaching IU. No need to be sorry.
-
Lol
-
Oh no! Dooms day for AH and Alford Bailey! There literally are no more mediocre candidates left to root for to get this job. Your worst nightmare might be coming in that insiders might have actually had real information.... The hell?
-
I would think Chester Frazier gets a serious look at the WVU head job. They all seem to like him a lot.
-
Well if you didn’t know we were about to pay $90 million for Brad Stevens so I think we’ll be alright…
-
If we hire him yes
-
Who else are you going to hire?
-
Not really. If we don’t get DeVries this is going to turn into a 2-3 week nightmare that blows UK’s fiasco last year out of the water. We’ve gotten what, 4-5 candidates new jobs/raises so far and the tournament hasn’t even started?
-
Is that a bad thing? The amount of misinformation spread about Stevens spanning 4 years and 2 different coaching searches is mesmerizing. At what point do you start to pick better friends lol.
-
Appreciate this. The Brad Stevens dream died about this time 4 years ago and don’t believe it ever got past anything than an obligatory phone call back in February. Crazy times when gifs and encrypted messages outweighs optics and common sense.
-
That’s going to be the case for any coach. DeVries at least can bring a roster stable enough to make the tournament at minimum next year. McCollum trying to mesh 11-12 new faces next year could be a disaster.
-
The more you look into DeVries, the more boxes he checks -tutelage under two highly respected basketball coaches (Altman and McDermott) -Highly successful at the mid-major level, set the standard at Drake -P5 experience -capable of leading overnight rebuilds -success in the portal -can bring a roster that should immediately contend in the B10
-
More than likely yes, which was always going to be the case. The idea that Brad Stevens was going to walk away from the Celtics in the middle of the season sounds more ridiculous by the day….yet has been the topic of discussion for the last two months.
