Here’s the deal with DeVries…you give him 3-4 years to establish a culture and build a rosters there’s a good chance you never look back. Reality is that IU fans have little patience (especially in today’s climate) and immediate results are not only expected but demanded. DeVries has two years tops to show something or he’ll be the next casualty. It is what it is. Hope he kills it this year…I’m rooting hard am all-in

Yeah…thumbed their noses at a rule that violates the Sherman Act. I don’t view someone looking to gain a competitive advantage in sports as morally corrupt. To each their own however.

It’s pretty crazy to continue to defend the rules set forth by an organization whose entire model for over a century was ruled to be in violation of anti-trust laws by the highest court in the land.

Bad offensive players? Look if you surround Enright with Tucker DeVries, Lamar Wilkerson, Reed Bailey, and then another athletic wing who can get to the basket, Enright is going to have elite assist numbers. That's all you need out of the PG position in that scenario. It's all about fit and roster construction. You can't have 5 chuckers on the court at once...it doesn't work.

Walker and Comer are the same size. Walker was Comer’s back up at EKU their freshman year. Pretty similar numbers across the board. Porter is an undersized 2 guard that has more turnovers than assists for his career. I would be fine with either Comer or Walker as a backup PG.

I’ve always suspected Enright to be the starter. He’s DeVries guy who knows and understands his system. I told you this 3 weeks ago. But you’re extrapolating Comer’s role at Evansville to something he wouldn’t have at Indiana. He’s not going to be a green light, option 1 guy. Lance Jones was a high usage, low efficient player from the same conference who transferred to Purdue and accepted a lesser role and became an invaluable piece to that team.

I’m not sure what your definition of “dominate” is? He averaged 17 a game this last season and was All-MVC. He played on a bad team without much of a supporting cast. Don’t need him to dominate next year given the role he’d be expected to play. But if he can beat his man off the dribble and find shooters for 10-15 minutes a game, I’d take that all day from a backup PG.

I think his quickness translates. He’s a downhill player and if you can get him to buy into DDV’s system and surround him with shooters you might have something. I watched him at Cathedral for the better part of 4 years and he was the best on the court most nights playing alongside a bunch of D1 talent.

Getting a "big fish" precludes everything else. That's the problem, not money.

You seen Cignetti's contract? His assistants contracts? IU has fended off both Penn State and Ohio State for Bryant Haines alone in the last couple months.

Only silver lining is that he’d be a one year rental. DeVries won’t have to worry about following the same path as Weber or Laranaga although Pack could certainly accelerate that seat warmth. He’s an absolute cancer who I hope becomes somebody else’s problem. Last comment on him until if/when he signs.

You keep attributing these numbers to winning basketball yet can’t explain why Nijel Pack’s teams don’t win lol. He’s the token “best player on a bad team”…you know the “guy that’s good enough to get you fired”. We’ve had plenty of those guys the last decade. I want winning basketball players, not guys who win the box score.

31-48 is 31-48. Spin it however you’d like. K-State was good before Pack arrived and immediately became good again after he left. Miami went to **** after everybody but Pack left. Those are intangibles I prefer my PG to not have.

I’ve answered your questions several times. No, he’s not a winning player lol. He’s 31-48 as a P5 conference starter. If that’s the guy you want running your offense….well, you get what you deserve.

Unless you can get an Isaiah Wong level combo guard, he’s going to be the PG next year. Pack is 41-60 as a starter while being a lead guard.

He’s the common denominator lol. K-State went to the E8 two years before Pack arrived and won the B12 the season before he got there. He transferred and Bruce Weber got fired and K-State immediately went back to the E8. He joined a good Miami team that went to the F4 his first season and the talent surrounding him either graduated or went pro and Miami immediately became one of the worst P5 teams in the country with Pack running the show.

He’s 70-68 as a collegiate basketball player (and would be far worse had he not shut it down after 9 games last season) buoyed by a 29-8 record as the 4th best player on a Miami team that reached the F4. That 29-8 Miami team had high level athletes all over the court protecting him…next years IU’s team doesn’t appear to have any resemblance of that Miami team.
