I don't think anyone is saying they would watch pick up games but the point is that the University is what sells and not individual players. It isn't about players having pro aspirations because that has always been the case. The point is that the college players need the University more than the University needing the individual player. For these players to make the most they can they go to teams like Duke rather than playing in the G League

I totally disagree with that statement. If all the top players left college basketball and the top level players were low to mid major players and they played at IU or UK the fans would still fill the arena. If those teams won and went far on the tournament the fans couldn't care less where these players were ranked. I have not watched one second of a G league game or the OTE teams because I couldn't care less about those teams. I don't go watch the Indianapolis Indians and I live a half hour or less away from the stadium.

Not if it isn't affiliated with IU. If it is the Indiana basketball club sponsored by Andy Mohr then a lot will lose interest. So how many G league games do you watch. Did you watch the Overtime elite teams play

The thing is that the mid major might better players to start with but they will move up in a year or two. The mid major advantage was that they had older team with seniors and were able to compete better with major programs but that is gone now.

One of my favorite non IU teams to watch were the 1989 Illinois team. All of their starters were between 6'4 - 6'8 and don't they really had anyone taller than 6'8 who played.

If these programs are no longer affiliated with the University people won't be interested in the product. If these become minor leagues teams then a lot of the fans won't support it. How often does regular sports fans actually watch or attend minor league games.

I like that we are getting players who have multiple years of eligibility left so we probably won't have to fill out whole roster again next year.

Sorry about yesterday if you thought my attentions was to call you out. That wasn't my attention at all because I was wondering if it was just official yesterday as why it was announced yesterday.

I never bought that players had any trouble paying anything in college. They would had to totally blow their money to not have money to live off. They get around 1500 for housing so you get a couple of roommates then keep the rest for spending. Also your scholarship covered housing as well and that money goes to the student if not living in the dorm. It also provides money for food and if you don't take the meal plan then that money goes to the student. My daughter was on a full ride to IU and a Pell grant and she received enough money at the start of the semester to pay for her apartment and all of her bills.

Nobody minds change if it is a good change and if it helps the sport itself. This change is killing the sport so that is why people are unhappy with the change.

They are paying to broadcast Duke, UK, Indiana and not Individual players. Players have come and gone but the the thing that stays the same is the name on the front of the jersey

The players never played for free since they were getting at least $50,000 + with scholarships and housing. I make a lot less than the CEO of my company even though I probably do more work, it is called life and it isn't fair

No I said I hate the system and college athletes shouldn't be paid. I could handle it if it was actually NIL rather than pay for pay through the collectives

We shouldn't be paying them because they aren't worth paying all this money to them. The individual players aren't what sells but the Universities name. The old system was way more than fair and now they are ruining college sports

I doubt we would pay this for anyone
