(2024) - Chloe Spreen to Indiana (Finally)
TTT replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
With what is coming in and here. Is she good enough? Or a better way to say it…is a she needed? IU Ladies are in search for difference makers in its system. I suppose she is good enough to feel a spot on 14 player roster if she is able to develop within system and become a star. IU Ladies need as much physical and size as they can get. Parrish along with Moore-McNeil are making it happen. -
Win a couple games in IU football equals a contract extension worth millions $$$. Then, next hire using history as predictor of the future…if next football coach is unsuccessful…then Dolson becomes on hot seat if not resigned. IU football is truly a washing machine.

This situation lends itself to a beaten down coach and (staff) regardless of money. In reality, there is hardly any where to go or hope for any success. There are many examples in all sports. An example is Bill Lynch. However, after transition period into a new situation and opportunity coaches move on and recover a sense of synergy. This will go well for T.A. because he is and will be on very very very very securely solid financial ground continuing in coaching if he desires or another opportunity. T.A. is low performance and very high reward kind of guy as a head coach in big ten. Much talk and exterior enthusiasm. Can anyone say LEO? IU hired a defensive coach who had some success at the college level that was a high school head coach that was 8 wins 3 losses for a season in Florida…then 25 wins and 12 losses at Ben Davis in Indianapolis as a head coach….Not a Gerry Faust type resume.

There are going to be many great opportunities for mid major college football players at IU in the near future. IU will field a pretty good Mac conference or mid major football team. The 2023 season may equal less wins than 2022 season. There is 0 hope in sight.

Sounds like Geary may be back for Penn State. If not it’s suppose to be short term. -

Had the ball most of the time and a soft touch. Defense did not affect her because gave her enough space so defender ineffective. Holmes got a big block towards end of game. IU Ladies hesitate on offense, uncomfortable on shots and 3 ball really looking inside plus got out rebounded. (Grace Berger really missed…defense, mid range, rebounding, her physical presence and making those around her a lot better). Illinois scouting and game planned accordingly but forgot to win. IU Ladies did a lot to lose and played not to lose but won the game. -

Upside is really interesting as in development. -
With the college football QBs floating around in the transfer portal IU football will probably end up with another mid major QB to go with an improved mid major championship OL to go with a mid major championship defense.

When an excellent team of players shoot 3 ball at high %, makes plays, rebounds, shoots ft’s well, inside game is very good, plus good mid range game, really really good activity by Parrish , and solid defense…this is what you get. -

Parrish and Moore-McNeil…Any update on K. Brown status?? -
Another example of those in charge on or near top of the pyramid throwing money around without any real accountability. After it’s all said and done, success means keeping job or more opportunity and big money…failure means getting large sum of money and moving on usually with some different high pay opportunities. Gravy Train gig if you can get it. There are many examples
-
Sure depending on how healthy she is and gets. If you’re talking a month to recover and playing back into shape (examples Glenn Grunwald, Scott May, MacKenzie Holmes, Bargesser) though they were different and more serious…tracking T. MOREN POSITIVITY I think Grace has a significant issue that is going to take time maybe comparable to Holmes coming back last year even though different knee issues. I don’t think it’s going to be a wave a wand and Grace is automatically 100% back. It would be great if I am wrong.
-
Parrish is a good maybe even a great to have option for increased minutes.
-
@ 80% with some type of support on knee and border line starter playing 20 minutes per game and maybe first coming off bench may be realistic simply to protect her knee and for Grace to make it through the rest of the season limiting setback/s.

Is IU going to field a football team next year 23? Coaches gravy train. = Have a little success. Get a lucky break. Coach a 4 or 5 more years. Get your pride hurt. Take several millions of $ and move on. Quarterbacks currently at IU injuries or no injuries are good mid major talented.

IU football had it…. just a few short years ago in IU football program K. Deboer, K. Womack, M. Penix, P. Ramsey that were good football coaches and players that accounted for some success among a few others. Ok all are gone. So IU needed to keep what they had (decision making needed to be able to make that happen). It’s not seen nor happened so now IU football quickly once again is a mess…I do like the new offensive line coach better. Even the kicker is going to leave. Next year will be more of the same except may win even less games in 2023. That’s one hell of a lot of money per win and never solid domination in the physical and skill level even against mid majors. Ohio State loses to Michigan and fans grumble about Day. Wisconsin gets them a new coach (and a good one) IU coach recruits a qb (McCulley a mid major at qb) changes to receiver and mid major at that as well. IU coach is evaluating C.B. and a Dexter Williams injury and other options in off season including recruiting for 2023. IU football moves at a turtle pace while the rest of the league scores a season’s worth of TD’s. Just nothing happening and boring.

Regarding the atmosphere at Vegas…T. Moren stated court had nothing to do with G. Berger injury. She also said that the hotel ballroom atmosphere was different than what was presented when agreement was made to play at the Mirage. For all coaches and players once there were in a damm if you play and damm if you don’t situation. Either decision to play or not play was worse than the other in speaking to how ridiculous the atmospheric arrangement was. Who does in depth screening for these types of games??? Speaking to injuries I am not so sure that set up of this ballroom did not contribute to injuries of not only Grace but Auburn player as well. It was an unserious attempt making it like a playground atmosphere on a playground court in a middle school cafeteria or a street basketball atmosphere. The players had to demonstrate composure to make it a legitimate basketball event. I will remain neutral (though it doesn’t matter) whether this atmosphere was a contributing factor but there were (2) more serious type injuries in this atmosphere set up at the Mirage in as many nights. I know injuries happen on the best courts in the best facilities. Just my analysis.

IUWBB vs Memphis in Las Vegas - Saturday, 11/26/22 @ 9:15 ET

Both Brown and Geary needed. Grace hopefully can recover in December playing out of injury getting it behind her and not be nagged by it the whole season where she is not near 100 or even 90%. Good point on Scalia. However, getting to final 4 or even elite 8 the 3 ball has to be at a very high level which…Things definitely need to smooth out into a highly efficient machine. Every team says the same thing I suppose. -

Seems to be a little more challenging to get stats and specific game info inTX. -
Mackenzie Holmes…Miss IU…not only in basketball but she is a great example of college student life at the highest level…Like a sister to the university and all those around her.

IUWBB vs Auburn in Las Vegas - Friday, 11/25/22 @ 8:45 ET
TTT replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Injury can happen at any venue called a basketball gym floor. However, After looking at the crowd setting in fold up cafeteria type chairs (probably family members, a couple close friends, and associates) in a hotel Sunday night singles dance type ballroom I am sure somewhere around Vegas there is a place that resembles more of an actual basketball gym that is available.
