Regardless of what happens in March Madness Tournament IU Ladies at 27 wins and 3 losses and at worst will be 27 and 4 and realistically 28, 29, or 30 and 4 are an excellent top ten team in the country (in reality all except a couple or three teams fluctuate in the top dozen or so in rankings and who are the best in this era). In IU Ladies situation now there is the Holmes situation (and maybe others as T.Moren eluded to…besides Brown not sure what she was referring to). It won’t be known much about any injury issues as T. Moren keeps any kinds of issues and circumstances inside the program. Even Iowa was kind of ugly and Ohio State was uglier…Not long ago ECSTATIC would describe this kind of season. Now, with winning and what this IU Ladies basketball program has become is a testament from (comments about performance) to it’s EXPECTATIONS in the second decade of the 21st century of IU Ladies basketball.

Agree. If Holmes gets a couple more blocks today, and able to defend better scores her season average, gets a couple more rebounds and available and active for OSU press, and able to come up with a couple more 5050 balls. IU Ladies win by 10 or more. And today Holmes wasn’t able to do so. That’s what Holmes was able to do almost all season. That’s why she is elite all American type player.

Sadly this may be an issue for Holmes the rest of the way. It’s equivalent to a Scott May or Kent Benson injury type thing for IU Ladies. IU Ladies can still get to the sweet 16 but all bets are off getting to final 4. Rest will definitely help but it could be a tough barrier to hurdle. Holmes was hitting like 70% from the field and currently her stability to get off the floor reminds me of when she came back last year. Just not the same. And yes a healthy Holmes at near or at her best she would have been available and active for OSU press defense like she was during the season. IU Ladies are not able to replace that and OSU smelled blood in the water.

And healthy Holmes at her best which she has been money most of the year. Unable to be a dominant factor in this game and OSU figured that out. It was really obvious.

Holmes was always available for the press. Unavailable and was struggling to kind of almost lumbering around. Was it starting game in Iowa and she played well vs MSU she did visit trainer. So IU Ladies coaches suddenly forgot how to coach. An injury related issue with Holmes with this team will make it look that way for sure.

Didn’t matter. Basically no Holmes and OSU could sale out on defense and smelled blood in the water (ineffective defensive player of the year and 22 points per game). kinda same thing as last year unless corrected next week.

Great effort by Holmes. No Holmes = Loss. Even if IU Ladies win vs OSU the winner of this tournament will be Iowa or Maryland and very likely Maryland

IU Ladies become outside shooting and driving team without Holmes. Meister is playing well but IU Ladies lose defensive player of year and inside scoring.

This is mostly happening due to Holmes issue. Ohio State can sale out very aggressively. They don’t have to worry about her and T.Moren and staff kept it a secret as long as they can. The stubbornness of not calling timeout resembles Bob Knight philosophy which he was like that.

Ohio State first quarter and half shot 3 ball and missed them and didn’t follow any shots for rebounds either trying to save energy or started game tired. Now when everything is going well Holmes is not effective enough due to knee issue. Ohio State knows this. And so does Maryland and so does Iowa. Going forward this is a problem vs Maryland or Iowa. And now OSU. Hopefully, get rehab for tournament. Just a bummer.

Glad she is able to be with the team. Keep her safe on the bench.

You are right 2002. Thanks for the update …and Don Fischer. That was before I really paid much attention to basketball on the Ladies side except for Indiana high school girls basketball. And even now I wasn’t aware of big ten tournament championship on Ladies side. Thanks.

I remember when Chloe Moore-McNeil was being recruited out of high school it was noted on a blog that someone said she always seemed to be the best player on the floor. Chloe is making that case for herself now and is a great team player. She just keeps getting better and better….and is interesting and fun to watch.

Defensive pressure and aggressive play from Michigan State should prep IU Ladies vs Ohio State….and defensive pressure and aggressive play from Ohio State should prep and propel IU Ladies to Big Ten Tournament Championship vs Iowa or vs Illinois or vs Maryland.

Games have not been big blow outs. Rather, pretty competitive thus far…could it be that big ten is the toughest conference which bolds well for March Madness.

Maryland is going to be hard to handle. Utah upset and Maryland playing for #1 seed.

IU Ladies awful start and great game for IU Ladies to play in. Need to play confidently out of the gate TO WIN and not to lose. Composure and calmness leads to double digits win, Wake up physical Game 1 is a hard game for a number of reasons. Better get use to tournament physicality. Well, almost a double digit win. Tried to give it away. WAKE UP GAME.

This game feels like it has lasted for 5 hours. Exhausted.
