Jogging my memory…After looking it up February, 1987. I also thought about 40 years ago. Closer to 37 years. Coach Ron Meyer and Bobby Collins along with Eric Dickerson and winning SMU was pretty big in earlier and mid 1980’s. I think what they did was peanuts compared to what is now legalized today.

I remember many now (losing track of time meaning more than several years ago) that SMU received the death penalty in football. At 10-2 that is proof there is always hope…in the American Athletic Conference.

Lynn to USC from UCLA as defensive coordinator for a cool $2,000,000 per year

You forgot the retirement buyout package.

Fans saying things and head coach saying things are different.

Cig hasn’t even scored an IU TD yet.
-
Totally different. Not the head coach and OSU and Michigan don’t need any motivation by head coach comments.
-
Nope. Because Teri Moren and other mature head coaches would stop short in a public forum saying other schools suck. Very immature. (even BK waited until he built success before he put JACK @$$ to represent Purdue (AD) on his weekly Sunday morning tv show with Chuck Marlow). Definitely locker room bulletin board material for other schools. Uncalled for and not a smart way to draw a line in the sand.

Good and fun, up until new Coach yells that schools who have beat up IU in football for many years suck.

Watching top teams play sometimes they look like what IU tries to do but does not do and top teams do it and make it look easy both, team wise and individual players.

After watching post game press conference I noticed some coughing and wondering if some of the IU Ladies were a little bit under the weather. -
There should be two happy coaches: one who receives a pocket full of cash to work to clean up a mess and work to make some IU football history. The other receives a pocket full of cash to leave an unpleasant situation and start a new job/career life on his own timeline.

I will just wait for the first touchdown

Love President Whitten visibility and interest in IU sports. Both, men and ladies. Cignetti IU era football success = Regular Season coaching record = win one more game than you lose. Bowl games record = win one more bowl game than you lose. Stated he has never looked at stars regarding a player and I am sure that is true. However, he does look at an evaluation on a player as most coaches do that includes a “star” like evaluation and like most coaches also want the player to have high level character. (He like everyone else wants the best rated players regardless of whatever rating scale used) or he better have them if he wants to win in big ten and that means winning above 50%.

Did IU Ladies design a game plan to play a certain way and were going to win that particular way regardless as long as they won and then use it for prep and teaching for big ten. The same could happen vs Stetson. B.K. especially in his prime unless he was trying to make a statement win a few games IU would play a certain way even if they looked awful doing it. It seems like IU Ladies were not really trying to win as in blowout in this one but more of a celebration tour game. If not, hard to tell where this season goes. -

And then possibly something new will eventually come out and consolidate for a more hefty price of course. -
President Whitten…Don’t overlook her deserved credit because it seems at least she is always visible around IU sports. She seems to be supportive and interested for success and likes that part of her job waiting for IU to score the go ahead touchdown and a bowl game in 2024…. with everything in total of poor play and coaching IU football still had winnable games that IU didn’t win that IU football should have played in a 2023 bowl game.
-
49%…anything over 50% is actually a pretty solid win % in football because there are only 12 games in a season and years ago only 10 games….especially for average range and especially especially for IU type football programs. This football thread will crack a 100

I actually thought it would be Candle light….however, starved IU football is so giddy over a warm body for a successful win vs loss coach before his first touchdown at IU memorial football stadium. Tom Allen contract extension as result of successful defense as assistant, Covid year success a couple years and players interrupting his tv interview by saying he was the best coach in the country. Hired and extended based on emotion more than rationale. The Cig interview with fans and McAphee showed student involvement and enthusiasm in JM football program. For IU Cig has potential to be a good hire based on UNpower 5 wins vs losses and energy/enthusiasm. Three or four or five years in power 5 league will ultimately tell the story. IU should be encouraged with Whitten as their president. Much better than those since and including Brand…much much better.

Inside Indiana Women Basketball Show 6::30 on Monday/T. Moren….. Rhet Weirzba and McKenzie Holmes filled in for T.Moren and both, were Great informative interviews. Rhet: Talks about the improvement of Sara Scalia defense. He also thought IU Ladies on Princeton press…didn’t attack enough but handled it letting Princeton close the scoring gap….He talked about team was tough and improved on defense vs both, Tennessee and Princeton. McKenzie: Was ask by Austin Render if she could remember her first two points scored. Holmes said how nervous she was in her first exhibition game. She credited her teammates including the guards for giving her the ball to score. Holmes credited Rhet and the coaching staff for her development as a player. Holmes talked about her dad at almost all games and his pacing. She looks for him at games. In one of the games at Fort Myers she was looking for him but couldn’t see him but could hear him talking….And she is really looking forward to going to play in Maine and how many people know about and follow IU Ladies basketball. IU Ladies vs Tennessee on Thanksgiving evening most watched game ever on Fox per IU Ladies basketball!

Spend a BILLION DOLLARS TO SEE IF IU FOOTBALL CAN BE SAVED OR NOT.
