When you lose to a program that had a fanbase not bother celebrate its NIT victory a few years back and historically has been dwarfed by the football program (ironically the inverse problem we have), it's never a good sign. It's even worse when you lose thanks to poor shooting and player management, and especially after Penn State was off for weeks. This isn't time to panic, because what's the point, but... it sure feels like it's gonna be another one of those years where we struggle to an 8-10 year in conference play and have our usual embarrassment in the tournament.

IUWBB vs #6/8 Maryland - 01/02/22 @ 3:00 on ESPN2
IUFootballHappyHappyJoyJoy replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
Can't believe this was our first program victory against Maryland. Didn't think it could happen given how cold we were at the charity stripe. However, this was one of the things I was hoping for coming into this season, and I assume we'll be bumped up to #7 in the national rankings. This should also be a huge confidence boost to the team. -

Lol, news articles are talking about how "Expensive" Indianapolis is for them SEC fans who want to make the journey up here. Indiana is one of the cheapest states in the country to live in and Indianapolis is car-friendly to a fault. -

The problem with modern-day refs is that it's a part-time gig that relies heavily on technology. These guys need to be full-time employees that should study tape and not be beholden to instant review. -

IUPUI had to cancel tonight's game with Cleveland State and the New Year's Day game with Purdue Fort Wayne due to COVID cases on the team. Though, given how bad the team is... maybe cancelling the season might be in order? -
Put Tom Allen on the hot seat
IUFootballHappyHappyJoyJoy replied to Hoosierfan2017's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I know this is the "Tom Allen" thread, but is there any chance to discuss how on Earth they still believe Darren Hiller deserves another chance? The offensive line has not done a good job protecting our QBs the past few seasons and he does not seem to be excelling at motivating his players. If money is the issue, I can get that, but... it's been 5 years, and there should more than enough evidence that he doesn't know what he's doing. -

More bowl cancellations: *Arizona Bowl cancelled, as Central Michigan replaces Miami in the Sun Bowl instead. Though who's to know if that'll even happen. *The Holiday Bowl got cancelled hours before kickoff. -

You upload from your mobile phone? The phone's image registry should allow you to do basic edits like rotate a picture in 90-degree increments. Meanwhile, IUPUI is really making the case they are the worst team in the country, though I strongly believe this is because they have absolutely nobody who has any talent. Matt Crenshaw is way over his head this year, and I seriously hope he can get anyone who has anything resembling skills next year. -

I understand it was a necessity in order to get a guaranteed victory while adhering to both the FBS requirement of only having one FCS opponent per season but also that we have 9 conference games, further stretching thin our chances to get wins, but the idea of having to go to a Group of Five school and play them makes us look bad to our peers. Yes, we do have the most losses in FBS history, and a rather pitiful history in football overall, so it's not like we have anything to brag about, but still. -

Here's my problem; I want to just watch sports, because I can get my news from PBS NewsHour and local TV instead of stuff I can't get into. You know, it's a side effect of getting older and more cynical. So, let's start hypothetically by exploring the obvious elephant in the room with ESPN. ESPN offers ESPN+ as a bonus feature where you can watch additional programs, live games, and exclusive stories on their website at $6.99 a month, as of this post. However, ESPN+ only provides supplementary content and does not provide access to live programming on ESPN channels. So you would need a subscription to a provider that offers sports to watch ESPN live. SlingTV typically reigns in as the most affordable option there is, but there are limits. The "orange" tier for Sling is around $35 a month after the promo period for newcomers, but you can only stream on one device and only has ESPN channels. What if the Hoosiers are on FS1? Well, then I would want the "blue" tier, also $35 a month. The "blue" tier offers multiple streaming options and more channels overall (including TBS & TNT for other sports), but doesn't have ESPN's channels. Really, the difference between "orange" and "blue" boils down to "Disney Channels" and "Not Disney Channels". For $50 a month... you can get ALL of those channels offered on both tiers, as well as multiple streaming options. However, not only does it start reaching cable prices, but we still don't have access to the Big Ten Network; that's part of the "blue" tier's "Sports Extra" add-on for $12 a month, which has no relation to the "orange" tier's "Sports Extra" add-on at $11 a month. But, you can save money by getting the "Total TV Deal", which throws in all of the bonus channels at only $21 a month, but only the channels of the TV Deal that you accepted between "orange" or "blue" (both would be separate). This is all ignoring the monthly internet costs that I have to cover. And at this point, I'm all "I just wanna watch the ******* Hoosiers! Why can't there just be an a la carte feature and have these channels fight to the death for my money?"
