I agree with the Leal part, he’s worked his tail off and he needs more minutes. I don’t see Geronimo getting out of position on D when I am watching it at home. I’ll pay closer attention to him when he is in the game. I do think he has a lot of upside because he is has length and he is very athletic. I know he played important minutes in the Bahamas and his teammates were singing his praises, but I don’t know what has changed since then, maybe a confidence thing!

I am truly optimistic! Some new players, new coaches, new system + Wisconsin overachieving = winnable game!
-
I’m glad he doesn’t play for us!
-
I concur! We seem to play well in the 2nd half but we can’t seem to get off to good starts in the 1st half of games. Getting off to a good start will be key to beating Wisconsin. That starts with the X staying on the floor and keeping his head in the game!
-
Most of the substitutions will come during the first half. That is 9 you named, JG will get minutes because of his ability to guard multiple positions. At the Bahamas, JG was one of their best players off the bench. I think he’s in a little funk, give him a little more games and I bet he’ll snap out of it and give us positive minutes.

Not going to happen! Actually, this team will get much better when our depth gets better. I can’t figure out why people want our rotation to get tighter. The deeper we are the better we are and can wear teams down. That is why we play better in the 2nd half. Most of the substitutions will happen in the 1st half and a tighter rotation in the 2nd half, just like RMK when he was coaching. Plus, it will allow us to not wear down at the end of the season!

How many think this game is a major measuring stick to see where the start of the Mike Woodson era. We have won there in over 20 years. If we win this game, it will not only get the Wisconsin monkey off of our back it will also prove we can win key road fans against one of the best programs in the B10. It will also prove CMW’s game preparation is good too!

It seems like his teams compete very well in their conference. I don’t know how many times he has not finished in the top 4 in their conference but he seems to always have his team in the top 4

I think so, because CMW will get fed up with his issues that could be a detriment to the team. He’ll do it just to prove a point or as a motivational tactic -
Will Indiana be ranked tomorrow?

I like that “Toiletmakers”! How about this: Turdue Toiletmakers!!! Yes, it’s depressing to see them ranked #1 and we are going the other way! Barely even getting a sniff now! -

One bright side to him not being able to stay on the floor, he’ll be real rested by the time the heart of the B10 season starts! By the way, right now I am not a fan of his game. He’s reckless, doesn’t channel his emotions, and let’s that dictate the way he plays. I can see why he had issues at Pitt! Eventually, if X doesn’t start getting things in check, CMW will have to start Phinesee or Lander and bring X off the bench. He’s one of the reasons our 1st halves get off to a slow start. -

From time to time Bobby played 7-8 guys, specifically during the tournament he did tighten his rotation but the season is long and in order to keep guys fresh at the end of the year, he played a lot of guys. For an entire long season, it really does take a village. In this case, we both were correct! -

It could be Leal but I’ve heard that Bates puts a lot of extra time in the gym. -

It could because he’s a 5 star player and they maybe so fixated on the fact that 5 star players should play. Or the fact that if a 5 star player doesn’t play he will transfer. I do know Lander is a 5 star and Phinesee was a 4 star who has lost his confidence for whatever reason! I think CMW knows what he is doing and sees the players everyday in practice and Phinesee maybe playing well in practice but it hasn’t quite transferred to the game yet. I think Phinesee will start to come around but Lander will play some, mainly because X can’t stay on floor! -

I went back and looked at the 3 NCAA championship teams, and RMK had at least 9-11 players play in at least 75% of the games, that would be around 25 games or more, so yes he did utilize his bench. Some of those may have only played 5-8 minutes but they did appear in many games! Players don’t always have to play 10, 12, 14 minutes a game to serve a purpose and I am are CMW will utilize his bench in a similar manner. -
Player comps for argument's sakes
IUFAN1976 replied to RaceToTheTop's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
For argument sakes, Henderson and TJD are very similar statistics wise, I think th what gives Henderson a slight edge is his ability to step out and hit mid range jumpers and he was extremely good around the baseline too. I am starting to see TJD become better around the baseline and if he can continue to step out on the floor and hit from midrange, I could give the nod to TJD, but right now it’s Henderson! -
Player comps for argument's sakes
IUFAN1976 replied to RaceToTheTop's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The later on all 3! Henderson, Thomas and Reynolds were better! Henderson was able to hit more shots from a longer distance and better at the free throw line. Daryl Thonas was most definitely better. He was a better leader, player than Race is; however, Race has gotten much better and if had played for CMW, I would say Race would be comparable. The only other difference is Thomas won a National title and Race hasn’t even been in the tournament. Reynolds vs Phinesee is the closest comparison of any of them because Reynolds wasn’t a scorer but he was smarter, he knew his role and he was a lock down consistent defender. Phinesee had the potential to do all that but has yet to do that on a consistent basis. -

How do you explain Purdue’s depth, which is a reason they beat a good Villanova team and will be ranked # 1 next week. I know a lot of good BK coached teams went more than 8 players deep. Once this thing clicks, they’ll wear down teams and win games because of it! I think we have the players to be deep and it will become an asset!!! -

He should have just slid by and let TJD handle it! That’s part of his maturation period as a college basketball player. He still has a lot to learn and I believe CMW and staff will use the very foul to teach him. -

At least for right now, you won’t see a tighter rotation. CMW has made it perfectly clear he wants to play a 10 man rotation and he thinks he has the players to do that. He wants to utilize his bench in such a way that he wears teams down and IU can pull away down the stretch in a tight game. I for one am for that. Maybe it will prevent us from having an end-season slump, like we’ve all not enjoyed over the last several years! -

No, not yet! If we beat Syracuse than possibly. -
Things to like about this team so far:

I say we do have enough and that is what CMW is preparing for! I say Kopp, Stewart, and Bates all have double figures in scoring and Leal hits a couple too! Complete balance scoring, 5 in double digits! -

I would say COULDN’T or didn’t know how. They only had one system and they weren’t successful in recruiting players to fit that system. Woodson strikes me as an innovator and he can make adjustments to fit the personnel of his team! -

I think Durr will be fine, he still trying to get into shape. I think he will give us valuable minutes during the B10 season. -

Even though I think we will win, let’s not count our chickens before they hatched! Marshall is decent and could give a nice test! We should not overlook this team!
