  1. From time to time Bobby played 7-8 guys, specifically during the tournament he did tighten his rotation but the season is long and in order to keep guys fresh at the end of the year, he played a lot of guys. For an entire long season, it really does take a village. In this case, we both were correct!

    2021/2022 Men’s Basketball Season

It could be Leal but I’ve heard that Bates puts a lot of extra time in the gym.
  3. It could because he’s a 5 star player and they maybe so fixated on the fact that 5 star players should play. Or the fact that if a 5 star player doesn’t play he will transfer. I do know Lander is a 5 star and Phinesee was a 4 star who has lost his confidence for whatever reason! I think CMW knows what he is doing and sees the players everyday in practice and Phinesee maybe playing well in practice but it hasn’t quite transferred to the game yet. I think Phinesee will start to come around but Lander will play some, mainly because X can’t stay on floor!
  4. I went back and looked at the 3 NCAA championship teams, and RMK had at least 9-11 players play in at least 75% of the games, that would be around 25 games or more, so yes he did utilize his bench. Some of those may have only played 5-8 minutes but they did appear in many games! Players don’t always have to play 10, 12, 14 minutes a game to serve a purpose and I am are CMW will utilize his bench in a similar manner.

    Player comps for argument's sakes

For argument sakes, Henderson and TJD are very similar statistics wise, I think th what gives Henderson a slight edge is his ability to step out and hit mid range jumpers and he was extremely good around the baseline too. I am starting to see TJD become better around the baseline and if he can continue to step out on the floor and hit from midrange, I could give the nod to TJD, but right now it’s Henderson!

    Player comps for argument's sakes

The later on all 3! Henderson, Thomas and Reynolds were better! Henderson was able to hit more shots from a longer distance and better at the free throw line. Daryl Thonas was most definitely better. He was a better leader, player than Race is; however, Race has gotten much better and if had played for CMW, I would say Race would be comparable. The only other difference is Thomas won a National title and Race hasn’t even been in the tournament. Reynolds vs Phinesee is the closest comparison of any of them because Reynolds wasn’t a scorer but he was smarter, he knew his role and he was a lock down consistent defender. Phinesee had the potential to do all that but has yet to do that on a consistent basis.
  7. How do you explain Purdue’s depth, which is a reason they beat a good Villanova team and will be ranked # 1 next week. I know a lot of good BK coached teams went more than 8 players deep. Once this thing clicks, they’ll wear down teams and win games because of it! I think we have the players to be deep and it will become an asset!!!

    IUBB @ Syracuse - 11/30/21 @ 7:00 on ESPN2

He should have just slid by and let TJD handle it! That’s part of his maturation period as a college basketball player. He still has a lot to learn and I believe CMW and staff will use the very foul to teach him.

    IUBB @ Syracuse - 11/30/21 @ 7:00 on ESPN2

At least for right now, you won’t see a tighter rotation. CMW has made it perfectly clear he wants to play a 10 man rotation and he thinks he has the players to do that. He wants to utilize his bench in such a way that he wears teams down and IU can pull away down the stretch in a tight game. I for one am for that. Maybe it will prevent us from having an end-season slump, like we’ve all not enjoyed over the last several years!

    Will Indiana be ranked tomorrow?

No, not yet! If we beat Syracuse than possibly.

Things to like about this team so far:

I say we do have enough and that is what CMW is preparing for! I say Kopp, Stewart, and Bates all have double figures in scoring and Leal hits a couple too! Complete balance scoring, 5 in double digits!

    IUBB vs Marshall - 11/27/21 @ 7:00 on BTN

I would say COULDN’T or didn’t know how. They only had one system and they weren’t successful in recruiting players to fit that system. Woodson strikes me as an innovator and he can make adjustments to fit the personnel of his team!

    IUBB vs Marshall - 11/27/21 @ 7:00 on BTN

I think Durr will be fine, he still trying to get into shape. I think he will give us valuable minutes during the B10 season.

    Will Indiana be ranked tomorrow?

Even though I think we will win, let’s not count our chickens before they hatched! Marshall is decent and could give a nice test! We should not overlook this team!

    College Bball Thread

I was thinking the same thing! We have lived this nightmare the last 4 years.
  16. For us to matchup with Purdue depth wise, we will have to play 9-10 players. Also, that is an advantage against teams, it allows to play fast and wear teams down, IMO.

    IUBB vs Louisiana - 11/21/21 @ 7:30 on BTN

When I was watching the game, I never saw that play developing and when it did, wow what just happen. Leal sprinting and Lander reading him and making a perfect pass. Just great execution. You can tell those two have played a lot of bball together

    IUBB vs Louisiana - 11/21/21 @ 7:30 on BTN

He played well and with more playing time, the TO’s will come down
  19. IU down to 10 scholarship players for tonight’s game. Trey Galloway is out indefinitely having wrist surgery. Rob Phinesee suffered a calf injury in the St. John’s game, will miss tonight’s game. Lastly, Logan Duncomb has been suspended for 3 games violating team rules. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-basketball-down-to-10-scholarship-players-for-sunday-game-vs-louisiana/

(2023) - PG Gabe Cupps to INDIANA

Cupps has one of the most fundamental shooting forms that i haven’t seen since Steve Alford. He is going to help us out a lot and will most likely be a 4 year player
  21. I think that’s what everyone will see under CMW, improvement throughout the year! That is something we didn’t see much of under CAM and CTC, improvement during the year.
  22. I say you are spot on! Lander will get the majority of the minutes when teams press us instead of Phinesee. Also, Phinesee has to quit dribbling so much because the ball sticks! His minutes will go down significantly if doesn’t correct that.

Things to like about this team so far:

The effort is much better, the motion offense, and had man-to-man defense. Also, how CMW has assembled his staff from various regions. I think it allows him to recruit in more areas than just the Midwest!
  24. We definitely need to work on our FT shooting but I think our 3 point shooting is slightly getting better and it will continue to get better. I know the D has improved and the effort level. Are there still holes in this team, yes but all those can still improve. Give it about 8 games and see where we are, then evaluate this team and staff.
  25. I agree, we would have lost that game last year. Are there things that need to improve, heck yes! I think our 3 point shooting will continue to improve, we had about 4 go down in and back out, those will start dropping. Our free throws leave a lot to be desired! CMW will have to get that to improve. Johnson is sort of a loose cannon. I hope he can get him in check too! overall we beat a good team and there is a lot to be optimistic about. Let’s see what we look like after about 8 games!
