That’s a subject that could add another 200 pages to this thread - and derail our mission to FIRE MIKE WOODSON!! Cliff notes version: NCAA cared, but thought the accreditation board would take care of that. Once the board didn’t, NCAA was stuck. Everyone knew that the classes were bogus, but they were available to all students - not just athletes (although many attendees were football/basketball players). So the NCAA couldn’t rule it was a benefit that the players were getting above other students. And there are no bylaws for academic integrity. UNC drug it out forever because they were willing to take the NCAA to court over it all. The NCAA wanted to hammer them, but they had to have something they could charge them with from the NCAA bylaws.
