Curry Hicks Sage hinted at Stevens backing out on Sunday night

Vick is a redemption story. But Ron Mexico was the pseudonym he used when he was being treated for vd. -
What's even funnier is that he's on his second coach at Xavier. He's like a cockroach.

Jerome Hunter's eligibility outlasted Woody's entire tenure at IU.

I don't understand why these guys don't understand that a single 2-point bucket is worth less than a 4th foul.

Comeback from dog fighting or vd? -
It's interesting how the fans' relationship with the players has changed now that they are all hired guns.

The funniest thing is that at least some of these people don't know how funny your username is. -

I believe all of this. What I don't understand is the absolute certainty on everyone's part that Brad Stevens would have guaranteed wins. He hasn't coached anybody for four years and hasn't coached in college in over a decade. College basketball is not even the same sport as it was when Brad Stevens was winning at Butler with Shelvin Mack and Gordon Hayword. It's been so long that Hayword, his best player, just retired after a 14-year NBA career. -
Darian DeVries - New IUBB Head Coach

Because he’s catching strays from his bros. He’s admitted that. FWIW, I don’t know anything about college basketball coaches but I think it’s always better to hire someone on the rise instead of a “retread.” Just because that route failed with Archie doesn’t mean that it’s not the right move. -

You guys have lofty expectations. I just want DeVries to put together a team that can not get whipped in Lincoln, Iowa City, and Evanston in a single season. Can he do that? -

It's a quote from Chaney who was looking for a job at IU. -

Well, Sampson would have won big at IU if the administration had his back. Crean was actually winning, but I guess not enough. Miller was considered a good hire at the time. But yeah, I had to do a lot of talking myself into Woody. At least RMK got to come back to AH at the end of his life, so I guess there is that. -

Let me say how I think it went down and you can tell me if I'm way off-base: Swung big for Stevens again because boosters demand it. This went on for a while and it got really close again, but in the end he decided to stay in Boston. Then took a temperature check with some other people, and struck out again. Started conducting a regular college basketball coaching search. There is no shame in striking out. In fact, you want him taking those swings. But getting someone from the NBA or out of a broadcast job is pretty tough when the money is similar and the job is easier. I'm actually pretty happy to have made a regular coaching hire this time instead of reaching into the NBA so I think it all might have worked out. I like getting a young guy who has something to prove instead of a guy at the end of his career. -

I don't know if you're joking, but this is a real possibility. First of all, someone tracked a plane to College Station TX yesterday. Why else would anyone go there? Also, Buzz seems to hop jobs every 5-6 years and this is year 6 at A&M. Not that I want him, but Buzz Williams is a real possible consolation prize if IU has not landed whoever they spent the past month chasing. -

If we're going to hire a former WVU coach, let's just pull off the band-aid and hire Bob Huggins. What could go wrong? -

I remember the Sampson search like it was yesterday. Lots of rumors about Pitino being getable for money. Then some strange rumors that Izzo wasn't happy at MSU and that IU was his "dream job." But then someone tracked a plane to Norman. It was completely out of left field. Not a single rumor. The Crean search was more standard. We had hit rock bottom and were talking about mid-major guys like Brad Brownell at Wright State. Crean was a huge get at that time and I don't remember a single rumor until someone tracked a plane to Milwaukee. Archie was a regular CBB search where the P5 school hired the hot mid-major guy. And Archie was on everyone list of candidates. Hope that sums it all up. -

We assume the players hate the coach as much as the fans do, but that's never the case. If you fire the coach, you lose the players. It's part of the deal. -

Before Brad Stevens, the white whales were Rick Pitino and Tom Izzo during both the Sampson and Crean hiring processes.
