Never said there was a deal with Woodson because there hasn’t been one. All I’ve said is that Thad turned it down (which has now been corroborated by actual reporters) and I said Brad never seriously considered it (which is true, but you don’t have to believe that if you don’t want to). But what bothers me is that he can publicly shoot it down multiple times and we still waste our time in this thread.

No. But it’s further evidence that such a gigantic portion of the fan base is so disconnected from reality it makes the job twice as difficult as it should be. It’s the sam reason the national media craps on us at every turn. It’s largely earned.

The great irony is that the preposterous and embarrassing level of delusion in this thread is in part precisely why BS, let alone TM, doesn’t want the IU job despite the money and resources.

And in the meantime, to really throw everyone off their scent (for no reason), they decided to formally interview at least three other candidates and offer the job to at least one candidate. But yes it’s probably all just an elaborate ruse for the purpose of (*checks notes*)...no, there would be no purpose to that actually. Shoot, that must not be it.

Basically, they approached him, he listened, he was intrigued by the idea, but ultimately decided IU is not the place for him. The physical never happened and that’s just not something that happens. Just BS.

Yeah, just guessed that there was heavy interest before the media had come out with it and anyone here was talking about it.

For what it’s worth, what Goodman said about how the Matta process went down on his podcast with Hummel is dead on. I know Goodman drives us all nuts (me included), but what he said is consistent with everything I’ve gotten (which is coming from two people who don’t know each other). And this makes sense because Goodman spoke to the guy himself, in person, Monday night.

I don’t have any reason to believe that angle played any role.

There was never an agreement. Period. He said no. There was further effort by IU. He thought more and said no again. That was it.

It doesn’t make sense because it’s not true. He doesn’t want the Indiana job. If he did, he’d be the next coach. He’s not even sure he doesn’t want a job. He’s just sure he doesn’t want the indiana job.

Other than the home runs that aren’t coming (Beard, Bennett, Brad, etc), Thad was clearly the best option in my opinion. He’s severely undervalued. His resume is fantastically strong outside of his two most recent seasons, which were primarily the product of a top ranked recruiting class just completely flopping - every one of them happened to be a miss. You should be allowed to have two down years after fifteen straight good ones, multiple big ten championships, and multiple final fours - even at IU or OSU Between the remaining options, l’m indifferent. They’re all big gambles. Get a dart board.
