https://www.rookiescale.com/early-entrant-tracker/ this site list all of the early entrants. Anyone with the wave and arrow are testing but also in the portal. Only 13 players who are testing are currently in the portal on my count. Noah Thomasson 6’3 guard from Niagara Deshawndre Washington 6’7 wing from New Mexico St i have no clue if those guys are any good but they’re the only 2 of the 13 that have the size that have anything respectable of a 3pt %

I believe the NBA new deal states that players that don’t attend the combine aren’t even eligible to be drafted. But that doesn’t start till 2024. You’d have to think it would be encouraged this year though so certainly if you don’t get the invite you won’t be getting drafted.
-
I think you take talent when you can get it and worry about that later. There’s going to be attrition. If we surprise and make deep runs we may have multiple kids leave early.
-
If X doesn’t get hurt Galloway isn’t a starter at all this past season and this isn’t even a discussion. We’d still be talking about how great of a spark he would be off the bench and his versatility would allow for a lot of lineup flexibility.
-
I mean I think we need to remember that it’s very real possibility the first sub comes in for Malik at around the 16:00 mark after picking up 2 fouls.
-
Ahh yeah the math makes sense now lol. I saw that Timberlake was 2018 class and Ledlum and Knecht were 2019 and just assumed without doing my finger math
-
Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think Ledlum and Knecht both have 2 years of eligibility remaining if they were to exercise the Covid year. Ware has 3 years remaining. Lots of mention of Timberlake but he only has 1 year left if I’m understanding it. Give me the guys with multiple years.
-
Still can’t believe he was a 4 year scholarship player. That guy put in zero effort. Plus he stunk.
-
The Coleman’s love to transfer. I think Jarren and Jalen Coleman-Lands might be cousins? JCL went from Cathedral>La Lumiere>Illinois>DePaul>Iowa state>Kansas. He got his championship though.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Jay Wright retiring. I’m shocked and could lead to another influx of portal and decommitment shuffling

At the end of the day I think Malik is right. He’s ready for competition. I’m guessing most of us agree that Malik will get more minutes than Durr ever did. That’s fewer front court minutes to go around. JG has a significantly greater opportunity to seize minutes at the 3 than to gain any additional minutes at the 4 (assuming TJD is back). And if he does that and he is a threat at the 3, well that type of improvement might make us a final four caliber team. But that will take a lot of improvement in many areas but it’s not a 0% chance.
-
I don’t believe JG’s numbers would closely resemble this if his minutes were 75% of the time at the 3. This is the argument being made. JG is not ready, offensively or defensively to play on the wing. Defensively his best skill was help defender in the paint. He was able to come off his man for a lot of blocks and being in the paint aided his elite rebounding. This is all lost if he plays the wing. I will agree with you that JG as a defender at the 4 is a better defender than Kopp at the 3. But I think it becomes a lot closer than you might want to admit if JG is defending the 3.
-
I hope I’m wrong and JG makes a major leap. Plays huge minutes. 2nd leading scorer behind TJD. Shoots 35%+ from 3. But like others have said we waited for these types of improvements from the ultra athletic 6’6-6’7 guy. Troy Williams never greatly improved his handle or shot. Justin Smith never greatly improved his handle or shot. OG you could see it happening and he’s gone. There are way more Justin Smiths and Troy Williams than there are OG’s. Hopefully Woody does get JG to be more OG than JS or TW. I’m just tired of waiting for the ultra athletic guy to put it all together. It rarely happens if they don’t already have the skill before college. And for the record I like JG more than others on the roster. He’s just the only current player who has previously mentioned anything about transferring.
-
I don’t really disagree with this. Just comes down to what skill set at an elite level could this team use. Well it’s shooting. Neither JG or DD will provide that. Do either possess an elite skill? Yes and the answer is DD. I would take 1 year of DD and hopes that it would push towards a Big10 championship and deep run. Look how important someone like Leaky Black was to UNCs run. If I’m putting my eggs in a basket for summer improvement, give me - X continuing to improve his 3 as he did as season progressed. Playing under control for an entire season. - even slight upgrades to shooting % from Trey, Race, and Bates would help keep teams more honest - overall team FT% those improvements with TJD coming back and I’m not sure we would miss JG, this year.
-
I believe Dennis has 2 years left if I’m not mistaken. He can use the free Covid year.
-
Give me Dennis for JG. From an outside shot it’s basically negligible. Give me someone that’s proven to have a high grade with Dennis’ defense, over “well he’s going to improve over the summer.” How many times have we heard that? Love JG but it’s going to be this song and dance every year with him maybe going closer to home. Let’s get a lockdown wing defender. We need elite skill sets. JG is elite athletically but that’s not going to cut it.

I’ve been working drills with my son but he won’t be in college until 2035 and is only projected to be 6’2 by the doctors. If you figure out the secret potion let me know.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
ib4iu replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was trying to think if Woodson had any connection to Mike Miller and if Mason would reconsider his Creighton commitment after the McDermott issues this year. Wishful thinking. -
Well since he’s not in the portal, IU theoretically hasn’t contacted him either. Much like Mitchell. Now are you saying IU’s been in contact with him even though he’s not in the portal?
-
Just didn’t get the vibe from CMW that he’d want that small of a backcourt. It’s far from guaranteed that he’d be a starter IMO
-
I know it won’t happen but if we want an Indiana kid to come home I’d prefer Easley. Maybe doesn’t have the ceiling of Brooks but also has a higher floor than Brooks IMO
-
It will be interesting to keep an eye on Arizona after the Sean Miller firing. They have potential to have a couple of interesting guys.
-
I’d just be shocked if he was willing to go somewhere and not be a starter.
-
No. Roberts was with UNC-Greensboro prior to IU
-
Robbins would be my priorities 1-5. He’s a big that can shoot. Could be on the floor with any other big.
