You really think it could last through June? I just don't see any way it can be kept a secret that long...and once the tournament is over all of the other prospective hires will be free...Plus, it seems to me it would kill recruiting with both high school and transfer kids... And once it DOES get out, I honestly don't see where Brad Stevens could step foot in a Celtics' locker room without a crapload of fallout...

Just reread the transcript of Dolson's presser, and this struck me (along with fitting in with what the insiders on here are saying)... "This will be the last time you hear from me. I hope you respect that, until the process is complete, until the next time you see me, we’ll be naming a head coach. I just want to be certain you can appreciate the sensitivity of the process in going through that." Shows me 2 things...he's not worried about trying to extend the notoriety through the media that comes from pursuits like this, and the silence and absence of leaks would make the Mossad proud...

As a long time Bears and Cubs fan, I often make sport of the McCaskeys, and the McRicketts (my name for them after going on the cheap the last few years) and their fondness for hanging onto a dollar... It seems AD Dolson pretty much negated any BOT issues by going out and finding the money through donors...And I'm impressed by that...Follows one of my favorite sayings from Henry Ford..."Don't find fault, find a remedy." And it makes sense (at least to me) what the insiders here are saying about this being a long ongoing process...I'd say the great persuader for me was hearing they let the Stevens' tell them what it would take, and then showing it to the donors... I always have been a "bird in the hand" guy as I'm sure the donors are...

If the salary mentioned is anywhere near what it is, and considering the cost of living difference (35% from what I could find) it's hard for me to imagine anyone who seems to love Indiana and the area to turn it down... I know BS makes more than he probably ever imagined now, and that money can't buy happiness, but it's a pretty good down payment on it long term...

Would NBA players even listen to a "Lame Duck" coach? I'd think the most likely scenario would simply for him to resign saying he's taking the Indiana job and doesn't want to be a distraction...

Someone posted something that I felt was very relevant on this board right after CAM was fired... They said something to the effect that if I'm being asked to pony up the money for the buyout or the "transition money" as AD Dolson put it, I'm not saying "Who are you trying to get?" as I'm reaching for my wallet... I'd have to have a name or a short list of names and the guarantee that one of them will take the offer...

I'd like to believe that AD Dolson had some assurances from somewhere that he could land a big fish... If not, and we're still struggling in 4 years, a lot of people won't view it as the coach's failure, but the AD's failure...
