    NIL and IU

While I understand that they want large size NIL donations ($1200 minimum for this NIL), it would be nice if they could collect smaller donations from people who don't have the where with all to "subscribe and donate that much" but just want to throw in $50-$100 to the "kitty" for their own personal satisfaction, and want nothing in return.
  2. Personally, I think Woody will try to play everybody for the cupcakes, exhibition, like you said, any blowouts. But I think he'll trim the rotation down way before March. I think the first phase will be in January and further reductions as the B1G progresses. I don't have a clue who will/won't play because I haven't seen any of them play in an actual game. I am hopeful that Logan and Anthony get some meaningful minutes on a (semi) consistent basis.

    TJD

Every time I see TJD speak, especially in the last year or so, I'm so thankful that we have a solid, sincere, classy guy who has grown into a magnificant young man now, and has taken the burden of the goals of this team on his own shoulders and owns them !! (just watched him at the media day Q&A on YT) I'm so proud of him being the "face" of IU BBall. He deserves all (and more) of the accolades he gets. He'll be one helluva man going forward. And his basketball skills aren't too bad either. Go Hoosiers! And thank you TJD.

    NIL and IU

This sounds very interesting for Indv's and businesses to partner with a reputable organization for NIL. Hats off to TDH for bringing it to us. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/new-hoosiers-connect-nil-collective-brings-reputable-approach-to-for-profit-space/
  5. For those of you who missed it live, here is link to Woodson's media day from earlier today.

    NIL and IU

Been looking around for NIL contribution opportunities as an indv, but I can't locate anyone other than the HH guys that have a "collection plate" for proper NIL contributions from fans or small businesses that don't want to negotiate deals directly with student athletes. The IU marketplace thru Opendorce I thought would be one to "pool" $$$ from multiple sources, but it doesn't appear that way. Anybody got another source for indv's to contribute to the NIL acct for players?

    NIL and IU

Love the idea. Helps student athletes keep more of what they earn.
  9. Strongly suggest you listen to the presser from Scott Dolson on the current and futre state of athletics, particularly NIL. TDH brought this to us. Thanx Mr Schuman!! https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/video-and-transcript-iu-ad-scott-dolson-on-nil-big-ten-media-deal-much-more/

    Hoosier Hysterics

I'm not disparaging Woody's daughter at all. I'm sure she's a wonderful person because she has 2 great parents who cared and wanted the best for her for her whole life. I assume things differently from you because I dislike the "jr high" personalities of the HH guys. Their previous actions with recruits were an embarrassment...for me at least. They are about as far from "credible media" as you can get, and yet they have media credentials. At least Mike Schuman, the ITH writers (and even the interns) have far more objectivity than either of the HH guys. Pankowski's resume when we was running for Board of Trustees was a joke. Everybody has a bias. I do. You do, we all do. That's not the point. I couldn't care less about what they say or do on their podcasts, or their Twitter feeds, except for how it impacts our recruits. There is more than enough competition for recruits without these guys getting in their face, cornering them, and asking them to "blink once for yes and twice for no" on some stupid question. I care about them adhering to the rules of NIL, and not getting IU in trouble because they overstepped the boundaries. And with their "insider" access, I'm concerned they won't think things thru before they act, like they did with recruits, and some of their posts. If they adhere to the NIL guidelines then I'm all for them helping the cause. But based on what I've seen so far from them, my bet is 50/50. And when you're dealing with allocating a significant amount of cash, I think objectivity is important. If they struck individual deals with each player, then that's great. Glad to hear it. But nowhere has there been any accounting (that I've seen) on where the money is going. And yet they never miss an opportunity to ask all of us, business owners, and any other IU fan to contribute blindly to their collective. If I'm forking over money to these guys, I want to know where its going. OK...rant is over. We disagree and that's fine. It's what makes the world go round. I sincerely hope you guys are right, and I'm wrong. Time will tell.

    Hoosier Hysterics

Like giving Woody's daughter a job? Seems to me the relationship should be arms length, because of their HH Collective and the money that flows thru there, not one of "nepatism". This is the type of stuff that while it may be legal, sure has bad optics. I also wonder who is making the decision for the allocation of cash thru the collective. I've never heard anything about a "review board" or "committee" or anything. So I have to assume that Pankowski and friend are making the decisions themselves. Also bad optics IMO.

    Hoosier Hysterics

If they were 20 something's and not versed in "entertainment/media" I would agree 100%. But even then they were in their 40's and had success in Looniwood as producer and actor. IMO, they weren't "beginners" (my word, not yours). I think they're just ego-maniacs like most in the entertainment world in Looniwood. I don't care if they do 1000 podcasts. I don't have to listen if I don't like them. That's fine. I just don't want them making a "beginner's" mistake when it comes to NIL compliance and get the whole IU system in trouble.

    Hoosier Hysterics

When they first started their podcast, they filled a void for a lot of fans by bringing on past players to share their own personal stories. We got to know the players as people, not just players. I'm glad for that. But over time, IMO, they've exposed themselves as being far more self centered, and egotistical, especially Pankowski. "Off camera" they are reasonably normal guys, as I've had a chance to talk to them privately. But as typical Luniwood types they crave the spotlight. Which is OK I guess if you're into that kind of thing. I'm not. There is no doubt they are passionate about IU and BBall. That's great. And I think that's one reason they've been able to wiggle their way into being somewhat of an insider in the BBall program. Their access to players and coaches is envious. But I'm tired of their "schtick" when the microphone and camera are on. I hope some of you closer to the program are right about IU's compliance keeping an eye on them. I'd hate for 2 guys to muck-up a program that is on the way back to glory.

    Hoosier Fan Fest

I don't want to nit-pick, but does anyone else have a "concern" with the scoring differential between the 2 teams. I realize this was all just for fun and all, but my logic says that Kopp & Gunn should have never been held scoreless with loose defense being played, and TJD shouldn't get 56% of the points by his team, esp with X, Kopp, & Rineau (based on early feedback on Malik's performance in practice). Just seems a little strange to me.
  15. Peacock is month to month, just like BTN--. You can cancel at any time. I suspect their coverage of B1G games will be light years ahead of BTN-- And as noted above, there is some decent content on it.

Guess we'll agree to disagree. I don't think they are completely different situations at all, and what makes anybody think that coaching college basketball is so much tougher than coaching pros with salaries and egos in a different galaxy from the coaches? I just think those of you who portray college as some special kind of situation that only "experience" college coaches can fathom is, well, lets just say I find it hard to comprehend.

Re: Izzo's new contract: I'm surprised by the lack of "he's too old to coach" posts which were a very common refrain from many posters when we hired Woody.
  18. Not nit-picking (well OK, maybe I am) but that's why I said " he's far deeper than where the 3 pt line would be." (not is) I guess depending how you read the post it could be interpreted the way you did.
  19. Like JHS twitter clip. Looks like he's far deeper than where the 3 pt line would be. Pretty consistent stroke looks to me. Especially when they "all" go in....lol

    (2022) - SG C. J. Gunn to DePaul

Bronny James was on the opposing team. Only Gunn and Sheppard were on the Midwest team. "Strive for Greatness" was the other team, and frankly had far more talent than the Midwest team. But these guys played team ball not indv ball. You may disagree, but Brook Gunn can flat out coach.

    (2022) - SG C. J. Gunn to DePaul

FWIW I watched the entire finals game in Vegas with Cupps, Reed Sheppard, and Bronny James. Cupps was good at point. Made good decisions, but his cuts were lazy. Defense was pretty good. Above average I'd say. Didn't look for his shot, always passed first (which could be a good thing to get offense into flow). The Midwest team with Cupps and Sheppard was really, really good. Played with a pace we can only dream of at IU. Lots of movement, great not good, passing, and everybody knows their role. Brook Cupps is the coach, and he could easily coach at the next level IMO. Sheppard is the real deal. Headed to Cal at pUKe.
  23. Sounds like from his interview that the older guys are doing as much coaching as Woody & the assistants. That's a very good thing.
  24. Kaleb is a man of few words ! Hope he "talks" with his play on the floor this year. CJ seems like a really good kid. Should be really interesting to see how well all the freshman adjust to the college game. Hope we're pleasantly surprised.
  25. IMO, they are typical hollywood ego maniacs. But they do have some good interviews, and they are huge IU supporters. Started the NIL Collective, Fan Fest. Kudos for that.
