He was one of the posters that made me to want to get off of that rivals boards. He thought he was so well connected to the program and if anyone would argue with him he would attack you.

How would hiring Bennett a failure. National championship, 5 conference titles, 2 conference tournament titles and 4 sweet 16's in 10 years.

Oats has had one good year at Alabama so I don't get the love for him
-
Why would Matta need a HC in waiting since he is only 53
-
We have no idea how a former IU would do here either way.

I guess as a long time fans we have seen what has worked at IU and what hasn't. RMK built a culture of tough minded players who might not be the highest rated but they worked together well. He brought in guys who were tough and wouldn't back down from a fight. He brought guys with high basketball IQ's and guys who could actually hit shots. He built a culture of tough minded defense where the whole was greater than the parts. What we have witnessed the last 21 years has not worked so why not try going back and building a culture that has worked at IU. This might not work elsewhere but at Indiana this kind of thing is important to the program. Why not bring in a guy who passion is IU basketball over a guy who is coming here for a raise or a guy going up a level.

I think the former players would tell you that Archie didn't care about the history. They never felt welcomed back at AH when Archie was there. I heard an interview with Greg Graham who wasn't a fan of his because he would never get back into contact with him when he called. Joe Hillman ripped Archie for not having his players stay on the court when RMK came back last year.

I think both Izzo and Roy Williams did quit well going from an assistant to a HC if a power 5 program
-
At first I thought Fife would be a better candidate but now I switched to Lewis being a better HC

I get so upset with how coaches today on how they do an end of a game situation. Instead of running an offense to get your player open you give the ball to one player and clear out and let one guy try to win games. It usually leads to a bad step back 3 that has no chance of going in

I think where some of the problems lie is we are looking just for a guy to get us to a championship. We all want to win championships but first we need to get back to competing for the conference title first. The other night on that round table every former player said RMK never mentioned winning a national title. It was always about winning the big ten and that was the most important thing. If you get to the point where you are winning the conference it will lead to a better seed in the tournament which helps with success.

Shooting percentages have not increased but went way down

Also I am sorry to call you out earlier

I think when you see great mid major coaches staying like Few, Byrd at Belmont and McKillop at Davidson it shows happiness is as important as money. Beard is already in the top 5 in salary so why would he leave. Arkansas as The Wal Mart money behind them to keep Musselman. Even the smaller schools have big time donors willing to put the money out there to keep their coaches. I think that was how Wichita St. was able to keep Marshall as ling as they did.

If these guys turn us down it doesn't mean IU job is bad. it just shows you that coaches are content to stay where they are at and they don't need to go somewhere else to succeed.

Offenses are fun to watch when shots falls but in college basketball that is hard to find sometimes.

Candidate Thread: Chris Beard (Texas Tech)
IU Scott replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Watching a lot of college games I have to wonder where these offensive coaches that Dolson is looking for. I see most offenses in the country looking exactly the same and they are not good. It is all guys standing around waiting for someone to beat their man off the dribble. -
If you look at his record besides that one run it is not impressive

I have watched a lot of TT games the last few years and never really like his offense. What I do like is that his team plays hard and doesn't ever give up. They are tenacious on defense and causes a lot of turnovers. -
How do we know it was actually Smith was a problem
-
I think some people would be upset if we hired Jesus
-
Two missed layups by TT in the last minute killed them. Also why wait so long to foul after the first missed shot.
-
Well Beard is now available to interview

The one that keeps arguing against Matta

I guess i see that every message board has that one poster who thinks they know more than anyone else on the board. The one who will argue with any point another poster makes even when it is obvious they don't have a clue what they are talking about.
