Also who is John Rothchild or did people think it was John Rothstein of CBS reporting this. The first I looked at this I thought it was Rothstein who is a reparable journalist but looked again at the name.

Well doing a physical before hiring some one is doing your due diligence.

Would love the Beilein hire and he was at the top of my list and ahead of Matta. I like Matta but his offense was not always the greatest but Beilein is a great offensive coach. I heard people talk how detail he is in every little movement in his offense.

I am sometimes so embarrassed of this fan base with some comments I see from so called fans. IU fan base use to represent something good and was different than all other fan bases but not so much any longer.

How is it a dumpster fire

I know my take is not a popular one but I really don't care what other fans think. I have been a fan my whole life and I am 50 years old and in my lifetime I have seen 3 national championships, 6 final fours and numerous conference championships. I feel for the younger fans who has not seen that and what it took to get those championships but I feel that clouds your judgement on things. You probably want the quick fix and don't care how we there. I say enjoy the journey because it is better than the destination. On the hire I am not in the group that thinks only about getting a coach who can get us to the national championship as quick as we can. I don't care to be like UK, duke, UNC or KU and i don't need a coach who can start getting us a lot of 5 star players right away. What I want is to get back to what Indiana was and what it took to win at a place like IU. I don't want the quick turn around coach who will cut corners to get there because that is not what IU basketball is all about. I want guys who know what it takes to win at IU and that doesn't mean an IU guy but I am not going to turn them away either. I want a guy who knows what it takes to win in the conference first and foremost because that is where to start your rebuild. I want a coach who brings in the kind of kids who I am proud of and that represents the University in a spotless manner. I want to recruit the kind of kids that have won at IU before and those are guys with high basketball IQ's, and guy who plays with their heart. Players who know the game inside and out and guys who know how to shoot the ball. It is not trying to get the best athletes and teach them how to be better basketball players. So to me I don't want the flavor of the month like Musselman who won't stay in one place long enough to build a program. I want guys who want to grow the program and not just a guy who wants to grow his career. I don't want Oats who has only had one good year at a power 5 school who is using guys that was already on the roster when he got there. I like Moser after listening to him on the DD show today but his overall record is not great. I want a guy who has proven to be able to win big or know what IU is all about and would be great to have both. Beard- Knows RMK, Lewis, and Pat and his players look like guys who plays their tails off. Beilein- Knows the big ten and has won the conference plenty of times. Listening to Laskowski he says Beilein grew up listening to IU games on the way home from his games. Matta- Knows the big ten well and won in the conference and grew up in the big ten area and thought I heard he grew up an IU fan. Bennett- Long shot at best but he has won big and he coached in the big ten as an assistant under his father. IU guys- Fife, Lewis, Woodson

1) compete and win in the big ten 2) make the tournament 3) start making deep runs in the tournament All of his former players said RMK never brought up winning the tournament as a goal at the start of the year. They said all the focus was on winning the big ten and that is all they focused on
-
That is what the assistants that stayed is probably doing

Candidate Thread: Chris Beard (Texas Tech)
IU Scott replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wouldn't put Beard as a homerun but maybe a triple -
Has Robbins said he wasn't coming back
-
I have saw people bring the name up but no proof we have actually talked to him
-
I thought they would look at the Utah St coach or the Colorado St coach
-
They have kept it in the UNC family since Smith
-
Watched him a few times the last few years and is a very good shooter.
-
I think TJD needs to be watching Drew Timme of Gonzaga on what real low post moves looks like.

Heard the sideline report talking about why Few has never interviewed for another job and we see why some might like happiness over money. He said he loves fly fishing, love the outdoors and loves the Pacific NW. also said his dad was a minister for 54 years n one church so he saw firsthand what being in one place is all about.

I have wondered how many seniors would come back another year with the rule allowing them to come back. Watching the losing teams at the end of the games I don't see a lot of them coming back. it might just be the moment but it looks like a lot of the ones I have seen looks like they played their last college game.

I remember the days when IU won 30 straight games against UW and that triple OT game was in 87. They were not good then and their coach then was Steve Yoder
-
I have watched a few of their games and they are the definition of Indiana basketball. They don't have the best talent but they play the best team basketball.
-
You do realize when RMK was hired a lot of the fans back then did not like the hire due to his slow pace offense. We were the Hurryin Hoosiers who scored over a 100 in a lot of games. They saw RMK as a slow offense and a defensive coach.
-
I have to assume from your post you are a 20 something that is more worried about glitz and glamour over substance. I remember watching Loyola Marymount in the early 90's and they were fun to watch. But that style is not sustainable for the long run in basketball. They scored 120 points a game but gave up the same amount.
-
If we are only looking at offense might as well go after Dana Altman since his team has already put up 65 points and there is still 17 minutes to go in the game.
-
Well he has been one of the top coaches in college basketball the last 10 years
-
He was one of the posters that made me to want to get off of that rivals boards. He thought he was so well connected to the program and if anyone would argue with him he would attack you.
