Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
IU Scott replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So let me get this straight is that the last week has been a total mirage. It was Stevens to IU is a done deal and then it leaked so Brad went on TV to make a fool of himself. He called himself a Masshole and that he is not a kid any more so going home is not what it use to be. Then we went on and a rumor came out that we were going to hire Matta but that turned out to be wrong. Then came the rumors about it being an IU guy with Woodson or Cheaney being the next coach. With these rumors the fan base went nuts saying IU basketball is dead for ever. So all of this past week was just a cover up to give brad more time to leave, so is this correct. -
If he wants the job he can find away to come this year. Also next year we would have to wait until the NBA season ends to hire him if he is not willing to leave during the season.

Who would be available next year that isn't available this year

I was watching a podcast and they were talking about why more colleges don't hire NBA assistant coaches for their HC position. They say that when NBA has openings they hire NBA assistants for those position so these are the most qualified candidates.
-
If that happens then Beard will go to UT
-
That is surprising
-
Take Beilein over him any day
-
Hopkins at Syracuse was a coach in waiting for like 6 years and finally left to take the Washington job.

So you want a coach who loses to Oral Roberts
-
One thing they don't have a football program so all the boosters put their money to basketball.
-
I thought when he committed he said it was because he fell in love with Bloomington and the campus
-
I got a response every time I e-mailed him about firing Archie
-
In the last two days I have listened to 3 different IU writers and they all said that 95% of what you hear is not even true. They said there are only 3 guys who probably knows anything including Dolson and they are not talking at all so relax

Well if you want guys who are still in the tournament you have to wait until their season is over. I don't ever remember a coach agreeing to another job once the tournament had started. Bill Freider in 89 left UM 3 days before the tournament and their aD did not let him coach in the tournament.

That is your choice but I guess I am different because I will root for IU through thick or thin
-
Beilein has never been an assistant in his whole career so I doubt he will start now

Coaching Candidate Thread: Calbert Cheaney
IU Scott replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Might not be as deep but it was way better overall especially at the top of the league. This years UM team would probably finished no better than 6th back in 92 -
Even if we lose some f these players there will be plenty of players in the portal to get
-
Chris Mullins had never coached a t any level just like Clyde Drexler when he coached at Houston
-
I bet that the next coach at Duke is a former Duke player and assistant coach. Also Laetner has never been in coaching so that is not a good example

None of us know anything about these caches and what so let the people who are doing the interviewing do their jobs. Also why believe every little thing that is being reported on the internet.
