(2023) - C Xavier Booker to Michigan State
IU Scott replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Watching the Cathedral and Westfield game and after 1 Westfield is up 17-14. Booker has 9 on 3-4 from 3 and he sure is a good shooter. Just not real aggressive on the boards or defense. -

On Hoosiersports nation someone who went to the game this morning is not impressed with him. No motor and lazy and to me he sounds like Jeremy Hollowell. I think I would pass on this recruit -
I loved the old camera angle at AH where it was right behind the benches court level.

Just watching the LSU vs Auburn game the difference in size and the type of athletes are so different than in the big ten.

IU Scott replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Being positive in life makes for a happier and healthy life. I couldn't stand being so negative all the time because life is to short. When I was younger I let the outcome of sporting events effect me in a negative way. When I had kids and me getting upset during games effected them I knew it was the to change. -

Happy with the effort tonight and thought the offense looked good. Defense was great for the first half but let up some in the second half. With 10 minutes to go it was 61-34 and it is human nature to let up a little. I compare it to playing pick ball where you come out and play hard and actually play basketball. After a couple of hours and you get tired it turns into street ball and a lot of cherry picking. -

I am starting to get a Jeremy Hollowell vibe with Booker. Had talent but doesn't have the motor to compete at this level. -
Well a couple of weeks ago in the NBA Memphis beat OKC by 73 points.

On his show today DD got on the fans booing as well. He said that is not how IU fans act and it is beneath IU fans. He puts some of the blame with bring in more out of state students especially east coast kids. He thinks those people doesn't know what being an IU fan is and that attitude towards IU is not good.

Saw where Evans is coming for a visit in February. -
Since I am in my vehicle most of the he day working I listen to a lot of sports talk. Found the Doug Gottlieb show and they were having a discussion similar that we were having about the transfer portal. They were talking about kids not fighting through adversity and in the long run will hurt them once they are in the real world. Also talking about how all the transfers is making for some bad basketball especially on the offensive end. I then listened to the IU coaches show. Woodson was out recruiting so Fife wad on there instead. They were talking about how hard it is to implement an offensive system with so many new players. Fife said it is hard enough for a team to jell with 1 newcomer to the lineup let alone 5-6. He said he had been talking to a lot of assistants around the country about how bad the offenses has been this year. Most of them blames a lot of it on so many new players in a program.

No doubt because coaches will not the risk of losing just to make a point. If Woodson thought Lander gave him the best chance to win then he would be playing.
-
I just don't think he is ready to play big minutes yet. I still think it was a huge mistake for him to reclassify. Also I bought the hype he was getting as a 5 star player. I saw him a couple of times and wasn't overly impressed with him.

I day this in our seriousness, I truly feel sorry for the younger fans who weren't able the watch quality college basketball. Also feel for those young IU fans who haven't been able to see what it is like to see IU being great looks like. To me what we see on the court today is not really basketball at all. Basketball is supposed to be about movement both player and the ball. Bit was not supposed to be about one on one play and dribbling the sir out of the ball.
-
You might not to hear about back in the day but it is obvious the product we see on the court today is far inferior than it was in the 80's and 90's. It is not because the players back then wad fat Superior but the great players stayed in the same place for 3 or 4 years. Yes, there were transfers back then but not even close to what we see now. Most of it back then was guys who didn't see the court at a major school transferring a level down. When you had your best players staying you could build a team that played well together. Today you really are building a roster ever year causing poor team building.

Not always greener on the other side. This is what is wrong with sports and society in general is that everything has to happen right away. There is no longer waiting your turn and actually playing when you are ready to play.

I guess I just noticed it more bring at the game. It seems most of the time he catches the ball he looks to drive or pass instead of being ready to shoot.
