It’s about winning for sure, but you can still win here without throwing away your morals. -

Certainly. The people a university chooses to coach and mentor 18-22 year olds don’t need to be saints, but they should at least be good role models. -

Probably a lot of kids are more interested now that they know Woodson is leaving -

I think, assuming IU and Stevens are talking, that it's more than likely there are attempts to stop leaks and throw off the scent. Every time we have an opening, Stevens' name pops up early at the top of everybody's hot board. I'm sure people can understand why neither our current team nor current coach need that distraction, especially when they are still fighting for an NCAA Tournament bid. And I'm sure Stevens doesn't want it either. -

McCollum only believes in using the portal when necessary. He prefers 3-4 year guys that he can develop and impact their lives. He prefers guys who want to earn their way instead of transferring to a place with a starting spot and a high payroll available. So you’d be asking him to completely change his core principles if that’s how you’d want him to operate at IU. -

Hmmm…you’d think we could get more than one guy a year if none of the other coaches care about it. -

Has Rabby addressed how unusual it is that Dolson is scheduling non-conference games for next season without consulting with his head coach? -

Lewis was on his original staff at UCLA, I believe, so I could see that. -

I'm not the world's biggest fan of Cronin, but i could see Dolson really liking him given the basketball environment he was part of at IU. I could also see Cronin bringing Fife back as an assistant. I think the two of them would get along very well. -

I get what you’re saying, but if it’s not a blip on anyone’s radar, why the need for Goodman to tweet anything, smokescreen or not. -

That would require hiring a guy young enough and good enough to coach here 15-20 or so years. And I agree, I hope we do. -
They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
IUHoosierJoe replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wonder if that really would have cost him anything. He doesn’t seem to be worried about quitting his media obligations, and that’s a bigger chunk of his salary. -
They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
IUHoosierJoe replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
A couple questions, 1. Was Woodson not aware of our procedure that we don’t evaluate and make decisions on coaches during the season? 2. Why didn’t Woodson just quit effective immediately? -

I don’t think he has the energy to recruit like he used to. IMO, when he was really successful, he was collecting a lot more talent than other teams at his level. Early at Ohio State, he was a very aggressive recruiter who collected a ridiculous amount of talent. When that fell off, so did his winning percentage. -
They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
IUHoosierJoe replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What process are you referring to? Could it be the process that the coaching situation won’t be addressed until after the season unless Woodson has a health condition or violates a rule? Is it that process? -
Unfortunately, there probably won’t be any. My son is a freshman at IU. He attended it and they didn’t allow any pictures or recording.
