Not saying he’s in on the ruse, but if he is, pushing other names out there would certainly be part of it. The other names serve as a distraction from Stevens, and also may help some of the names he pushes get a pay raise from their current schools. It’s a win for everyone. -

I’ll never know how true this is, but I was told by what I believed was a pretty good source back when it purportedly happened that Alford was in negotiations to take the job after Davis’ interim year but Brand nixed it at the last minute and decided IU was keeping Davis full time. -
