This is just my opinion, but the success of the football program is important for many reasons, not the least of which is 1) we see the product of what seems from the outside to have been a more normal hiring process, and 2) the increase in revenue can help offset the impact of some donors who will leave, upset that they don’t have the say they demand.

At the end of the day, you’re arguing that’s the way it’s always been, and others are arguing it shouldn’t be that way. You’re both right. Unfortunately, that doesn’t get us anywhere except the same road we’ve been down for the past 30 years. Some of us older guys know that road is a dead end, and many are quickly losing interest.

The donors are the tricky part. There have been a few in the past who expected access and privilege in exchange for their money. When they felt they weren’t getting enough of that, they stopped donating.

I would argue that Dolson is most qualified on that list, perhaps by far. No, he hasn’t been an AD for a long time, but he’s worked in the IU athletic departments for decades, has seen many coaches come and go, and has certainly learned a lot as to why some coaches have succeeded and others have failed. And I think he used that knowledge to make an incredible football hire, something numerous other IU athletic directors have not been able to do. Would you agree with that?

If there isn’t sufficient support, do you believe Dolson could, or would even try, to win a similar battle?

Why will you be shocked if he is retained after the season? Is there a groundswell to replace him when the season is over?

Last I heard, it was a pretty significant hamstring injury. I'm not one to bang on coaches or staffs on message boards, but we see way too much of this, in my opinion. Probably time to take a long, hard look at Clif.

Yeah. I know. But NET ratings are very close to Pom Ratings minus the pre season and prior season ratings. NET Ratings also have a result based factor, but that is less than 10% of the total rating. That’s why they are very similar after Ken Pom removes the pre season and prior seasons from his calculation.

Yeah, I can second that. In short, those people think they should get whatever they want for the money they give, and if they don’t get it, the money stops immediately.
