To me, it just comes down to the culture the head coach has put in place, whether they’re transfers, returners, or freshman. Unfortunately, I fear that when a coaching change is made, it will have to be a big, well-known name capable of commanding the respect it’s going to take to revive this program’s now sorry reputation.

100% agree with this. Something to consider, though, is if betting lines came out on all of Indiana's remaining B1G games right now, they would only be favored in four of them. Their schedule is brutal, especially the January 11-February 14 stretch. So, they will have to very significantly improve their level of play to come anywhere near 11 B1G wins.

It’s not true. I responded a couple days ago to one of his thousands of posts that claim that and got a snarky response, and he just keeps posting it. Section 2.03 of Woodson’s contract expressly states that Woodson reports to the Director of Athletics. The contract is public information and anyone can look it up, so it seems pretty ridiculous to keep posting otherwise.

Probably some truth to your second paragraph. But to be fair, Fife didn't embrace it either (at least from what I've heard), so it was still going to be difficult to make it work.

They tie pretty close to the old-version Sagarin ratings that combined predictive (score-based) and elo chess (result-based), which usually ended up being pretty close to tournament seedings. Normally, the bubble for at-large teams is around 45-50 rank. Rankings are through yesterday's games and records only include division 1 games. Where did this narrative start that he doesn’t report to Dolson? It’s expressly stated in his contract in Section 2.03 that he reports to the Director of Athletics.

On a lighter note, Fisch commented on Ballo’s new hairstyle, saying it looked like his head exploded.

I think seeding them as they are ranked, rather than the artificial bump for conference champions, would help align better matchups.

I’m not a Woodson fan and I’m ready to move on, but many of the players in New York liked him. And if you look at the Knicks results over the past 20 years, Woodson’s partial first year and second year were pretty good, comparatively. He had quite a bit of support to get a second run as their head coach. And again, I’m not saying that because I want him to stay, it’s just a fact.

He interviewed to be hired again as the Knicks head coach and was a finalist for the job. When he didn’t get it, he agreed to join as an assistant. He was actually pretty well liked there.

Current student leadership, particularly the freshman class, is pushing very hard for that.
