I hope whomever it is goes and makes a case to Mullins to decommit from the ****** at Connecticut.

If they got it done in time and this happened, I am begging him to let me drop that hiring announcement the first Thursday of the tournament at like 11:59.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

LOL. Just admit you are wrong. Kelvin Sampson was "resigned" he didn't "resign". That is just a euphemism for quit with some benefits or get fired. Which is exactly what is happening to Woodson. IU is laying him off. Besides that, you said "Never" and you didn't qualify your "never". So again, "never". Pssh. -

They retired Mike Davis in the middle of a season and fired Kelvin Sampson in the middle of one. "Never"? Psssh. -

Or, it could just be like others were saying. There was an agreement that Woodson was going to retire and stick out the year. He sat on it for a day and then said, "Screw it" took his two technicals and ejected himself from dealing with the mess he created knowing it is over anyway. -

Yeah, that was another throwing shade at the IU staff from Painter. He isn't wrong but he finds a way to needle doesn't he? The silver lining to losses that would usually really irritate me is that each one should be another nail in Woodson's tenure here. This was no moral victory. This was one of those games that shows just how much Woodson holds the team back. They can play with a fire under their butt when properly motivated. They do have the pieces to be in a game down to the last second with a supposedly top 10 team on their own floor. This team that everybody going into the season thought was a Top 15 to 20 squad has deficiencies that all point back to one thing: Mr. NBA has gotta go. So yet another loss in the long list of losses over the past 2 decades. Our only hope is that when we once again pull the plug on another bad idea is that Dolson can tell all the other hangers on around the program to sit down and STFU. You guys got your wish and it was a failure. Then he needs to pick a guy who is able to come in and own the program like Cignetti came in and took over football. "That's nice Ferguson, tell your boys to give their money to Hoosiers Connect and then stay the ---- out of my way." That is what we need. -

Kind of glad somebody did. That was a case of knowing the situation. He should have been the fifth option on the last shot tonight, not #1. -

Money can make a bad coach better. It just can't make a bad coach good. Can you imagine what Woodson's team would look like without the money? -

Going 0-5 against Northwestern at Indiana should end your career at Indiana. -

I would have sat Galloway, Mgbako, and Ballo to start the game. Don't have to keep them ouy long but send a message about effort. And when they went in, I would tell them the first time I saw them half assing it out there they would be right back on the bench. -

He doesn't have a little baggage. He has an anchors worth. She dropped the charges but he beat her up, choked her, left bruises and bite marks on her. That isn't a "little drinking problem", that is a massive, "After 25 years of **** show you are taking a huge risk that I am going to do something that ends all of your careers, brings a really bad light on the University, and gets me fired" type of decision. They will have pictures of what he did to that woman and will be laying them in front of a female President and saying, "This should be our guy....trust me." It isn't happening. The chance of that is likely less than the chance of them reanimating Bob Knight and hiring him. -

He is an assistant on the team. I expect him not to publicly be out there trashing himself. "Yeah, world. My boss sucks, these employees suck, I suck...." I don't expect guys to actively go and get themselves canned. Be real. -

If true I am glad Cheaney said no. Let Ya fall on the sword. Calbert was my favorite player growing up and I know he had loyalty to Woodson and is probably irritated how all this went down, but I don't want to see this monstrous mistake take out any more Hoosier legends than it already has. -

I see you have moved on to step 2 of the "I was dead wrong to keep supporting the current coach but can't just come straight out and say that" playbook. Yes, yes...Woodson has to go but we won't get anybody because pressure, fans, rubes, etc. -

No, the decision is based off of protecting whatever goodwill is left in your product. That isn't an emotional decision on the part of the decision maker. I think any chance of violence is infinitesimally small and isn't more than any other large event gathering. People booing the team every game, chanting for the coach to be fired, doing mass walkouts, etc. are things you don't want to have to try and sell as a decision maker. That is hurting thr brand I have a fiduciary responsibility to protect as one of those decision makers. Emotional responses aren't devoid of logic. The two are not mutually exclusive. -

Put a rock there. Who cares? The decision isn't about winning games this season. It is about dialing down the emotions. Turn down the temperature and start talking to people behind the scenes. Put Hunter or Ya in charge. Or don't even fore Woodson. All you have to do is convince the dude to announce his retirement at year end. Mike Davis announced he was leaving during the season and finished out the year and all the craziness kind of died with that announcement. It isn't the who that matters, it is getting the message out there definitively that a new direction is being taken at year end.
