It isn't a logical conclusion of moving down a list. You could have 10 guys you have some interest in and send out a note to their agent and say, "Would your guy be interested?" This could be guy 1, 5, 7, and 10 saying no. And trusting agents is usually just them pumping their client anyways. IUCrazy2 has no interest in the Indiana job. I let Goodman know that. Doesn't mean Indiana had interest in me. At the end of the day, just get a competent guy and let our money do the recruiting for awhile. Most of the guys we are fretting over aren't elite.

With the collective, I think there are no rules right now and it would be stupid for Indiana to act any differently than every other top school likely is right now. If Fred Glass wants to talk to Mullins' Dad, free country. If your school is worried about losing a kid, up your offer. Now, do I think this is the way things should be? No. However it is the way things are and we have the weight to be successful in this environment so I want Indiana's weight thrown around. We didn't do this in the shoe era and we lost our market space because of it. It is the wild west right now and we have one of the fastest shooting guns with the most bullets. Let's go get a good pistolier and use our advantages.

Also possible that Goodman saw all that and went to Stevens and said, "Hey, you talking to Indiana" and Stevens says, I am happy where I am at, while also talking to Indiana, because no way he is telling that jagoff he is talking to Indiana at that juncture whether he was or not. All that said, I doubt it is Stevens but that is regardless of who told Goodman what. I don't think he is plugged into anything at Indiana and if Stevens was talking to Indiana he has zero reason to tell Goodman that.

I am not and was not bought in on the Stevens stuff, it seems like whomever we end up getting always comes out of left field like right before it is announced, however....I think Jeff Goodman knows nothing about the search and will know nothing about the search until the rest of us do.
