Sounds to me like Indiana is just the opening bid. -

Everything I've read/heard (no inside sources) is that Mgbako is going to test the draft waters. If he decides to play another year of college basketball, it will be at Indiana. I don't think he will get a Round 1 or 2 guarantee - so I think the safe bet for him will ultimately be to take a nice big NIL check and return to IU. I would say 70/30 in favor of staying at IU right now. Again, no inside sources - just thinking through it logically. -

I love the Tucker-Mgbako-Reneau scenario because it FORCES Woodson to change the offense. He isn't going to post Mgbako up every time down the floor. However, this scenario assumes Mgbako comes back. -

Couldn't agree more. We had an amazing "rim protector" last year and our defense was awful. Our rim protector didn't help us much when the Japanese Steph Curry was bombing 3s on us. That being said - of course Woody is shopping for a rim protector. -

Exactly. Woodson and our staff's inability to understand moneyball/analytics -whatever you want to call it is why we continually get beaten by teams with far less talent. Penn State and Nebraska are exhibits A and B. -

I think Walker would be a perfect piece. -multiple years of eligibility remaining -strong proven skills (not an athlete we are hoping can turn into a basketball player) -Indiana kid who will be willing to come off the bench -NIL discount for being so close to his home. We will need to budget wisely to go big $ on our top targets. -

No. He doesn't - Woody is completely unaware of trends taking place in the game. -

You're exactly right. I hope that staff fills 11, 12, and 13 with skilled basketball players who have multiple years of eligibility. Opposed to guys with no skills and a single year of eligibility (not going to name names). -
Dennis Evans in the portal. 7'1" center was at Louisville last year. Had some sort of medical issue last year. Was a top 25 player coming out of high school. Would be a guy worth taking a gamble on - as long as you have other options at center on the roster.
-
You're right. However, if we return Galloway, MM and Reneau in our starting lineup next year how much better can we possibly be? I find it hard to believe we are going to upgrade at Ware's position.
-
We had the best rim protector in the conference this year and our defense was statistically terrible. Maybe rim protecting is overrated. Your comment on Reneau foul issues is spot on though.

My biggest concern with the Board of Trustees is that many of them may not care about how many games the basketball team wins.
-
This is true for 99.99% of coaches. However, Dusty grew up 10 miles from Assembly Hall - when Bob Knight was king.
-
How did the same person hire Curt Cignetti and Mike Woodson?
-
Apologies if this has already been mentioned - but did anyone else notice the a** chewing Woody gave Reneau on his 5th foul against Wisconsin? Reneau deserved it - but I thought it was notable because I have never seen Woody lay in to someone like that. Makes me think Woody is well aware of how tenuous his situation is.
-
What Woodson should be doing - our offense and defense stink, I need to bring in an X's and O's/analytics guru. What he's actually going to do - bring in some more of his buddies who have no idea how to coach modern basketball.

Nebraska football has won 3 national titles since 1994.

Has Woodson met Scott Dolson's expectations for running the program? I think this is what people are discounting when it comes to whether Woodson is retained. I believe Dolson had a very clear idea of how the Mike Woodson era was going to work. 1. We were going to play modern, fast paced basketball. This was stated very clearly in the early press conferences. After the Archie Miller era, this is what Dolson wanted to bring to the program. Woodson has failed Dolson in this regard. 2. We are going to have an experienced coaching staff with experience excelling in the Big Ten conference. Dolson hires Dane Fife. Woodson couldn't work with Dane. He needed "YES" men. 3. We were going to have Thad Matta in the General Manager role. An experienced Big Ten winner. He left after 1 year and there was no reason for Woodson to replace him (after all he has Armond Hill on staff).

The #1 reason Cronin won't be hired is that we've hired two straight coaches with dreadful offenses. Our next coach is going to be someone who has a track record of offensive efficiency, recruiting shooters.
-
Reading the tea leaves on here - I think he just made a comment about who IU's #1 target would be IF they were to fire Woodson.
-
We've made every mistake. Sampson - no morals Crean - no defense Archie - no offense Woodson - no clue how to run a college basketball program If we can learn from all of those mistakes, our next coach will be the second coming of RMK!
-
Google Bruce Pearl. He wins. He is the answer. I literally don't care about anything else at this point. Bring back Kelvin Sampson for all I care.
-
Mike Woodson doesn't care what the computers say.

You can't use the - we didn't expect our 6th year point guard to be injured excuse when you had an open scholarship and didn't bother to use it! The staff could have gone out and got anyone - even if it was their 10th option. Clearly they weren't above taking rotational players - as they grabbed Walker and Sparks. However, they didn't see a need to add a guard. Mindblowing!
