I am just worried he isn't an alpha type that can sell and promote the brand. Speaking to local businesses, interacting with high school coaches in Indiana, I just think we need a charismatic leader. Say what you will about Bobby Knight, Rick Pitino, Jay Wright, Coach K........they all have a dominating 'presence'. I don't see that in McCollum, he seems more inverted and a quiet type. Not sore that resonates with this fan base in my opinion.

i would rather have Devries, he has at least proven himself as P4 coach this year and that was without his son for 75% of the season.

Yeah, I wasn't necessarily pining for them......just saying if it's before the start of the tourney, it's either a retired coach, NBA linkage, or someone who didn't make the tournament. Now if Darian Devries doesn't get West Virginia in, and doesn't take the Iowa job.......I would take him in a heartbeat! If we don't get the white whale or Jay Wright of course!

It better be Brad Stevens, Billy Donovan, or Jay Wright then.........not unless it's like a Chris Collins, Josh Schertz type who didn't make the tournament.

If it's not Brad Stevens or Jay Wright then I hope not! If its a current coach, we want someone who will go deep in the tournament, so we won't find out until hopefully "that coach" is finally knocked out.

I love Devries over all others......look what he has done with West Virginia after his run at Drake! So if he wins game one of Big 12 tourney he will hit 20 wins again, doing it all without his son who was their leading scorer but was injured in game #8. West Viriginia was 9-23 last year. If we are striking out, why not go after Brad Underwood at Illinois? Salary of $4.7 million and is 271-126 (.683). Has 6 straight 20-win seasons at Illinois. He also made the Elite 8 in 2023-2024. Only negative is his age of 61, but he makes Woody look like he's 76.

Love his offensive style, wins wherever he goes and has a St. Louis team at 18-13, for a team that won 13 games last year. I am from the Terre Haute area, and he put ISU back on the map last year with the NIT Championship game run.

Huss was an assistant under Dana Altman and played with Kyle Korver at Creighton from 1997-2001. At High Point he went 27-9 last year and won their conference and then did it again this year going 29-5. He's young at 46 years old, born in Decatur, Illinois.......we could do a lot worse if we are looking past our Top 7-8 potential coaches.

Have you guys seen the rumor on Reddit that says Will Sheehey is interviewing for a position with IU? Post-playing career Sheehey retired from playing in 2020. In September 2021 he joined the Golden State Warriors as a player development coach, and was part of the staff for the 2022 NBA Championship.[1]

Go after Darian Devries at West Virginia and bring his son to play for us if we are moving down the list.
