Everyone loved the Archie hire and it was a disaster. Everyone hates the Woodson hire, which means?????

Mildly disappointed, but I don’t hate the hire. He was a legit NBA head coach which is rare in college basketball. We’ll see who his assistants are, but it’s not about winning the press conference.

I think he’s pretty reliable but I’m not positive.

As long as the head coach position is vacant, I’ll hold out a little bit of hope that it’s Brad. But there are very few candidates where I’d be legitimately disappointed. This whole saga has been really entertaining.

Is he allowed to be under 2 signed contracts at once? I have no idea how that stuff works.

Agreed. They kind of have to be treated as separate decisions even though they’re connected.

I’m not saying we should hire Will Wade and let him run amok. I’m not saying we should bid on players and pay them hundreds of thousands of dollars. I’m not saying we should ever allow what Greg Marshall did at Wichita state, and I’m not saying we should allow student athletes to get away with sexual assault and other crimes. What I’m saying is we don’t need to operate like we’re scared of making a mistake and we don’t need to tell on ourselves when we break a minor rule. We should tell the NCAA to pound sand and make them prove misconduct because it has been proven to be the correct way to operate at the high major level.

We’ve got some incredibly naive fans if they don’t think almost every program in America doesn’t operate at least a little bit in the gray area. There are the obvious schools like Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, Arizona, LSU, etc where we’re all very confident of blatant cheating, but the “clean” schools like Villanova and others don’t win without operating in a gray area.

How is the gray area “blatantly cheating”? If our own compliance department is handicapping our coach from recruiting on an even playing field, we have no chance of being anything better than an average big ten program.

It took Moser 7 years to get Loyola humming. He’d get fired after year 4 with his track record. I just don’t see him building the same thing at IU in a quicker timeframe.

Loyola is incredibly impressive and their defense is phenomenal, but I have a really hard time seeing this success replicated at Indiana. Krutwig is a really special and unique player, and their defensive system takes a lot of experienced players who have been in the program for a long time. I don’t see him being a serious candidate right now.

Who cares about the perception stuff? I’d gladly look like a clown show if we end up with the right coach. Realistically, I think Dolson is running such a tight ship that “insiders” and “reporters” are getting frustrated. They can’t write articles that say “yeah we don’t know anything” over and over. Clowning on IU is just the cool thing to do. That all goes away if we start winning.
