Do we really want to look like a stereotypical big ten team with a 7 footer in the paint with limited mobility? We’re seeing how well that has fared in the ncaa tournament for the past 20+ years. I’d much rather have Geronimo/Kopp at the 4, TJD/whatever athletic big at the 5, and beef up on wings and guards. Under Beilein, Michigan did not look like a traditional big ten roster, and was able to have consistent success in the tournament. I would much rather look like them than like a Purdue or a Wisconsin.

So what’s your alternative solution?

This is essentially a meme account run by IU students. It literally doesn’t matter at all.

It’s a factor that the committee has taken into account in the past. We’re something like 8-2 with both Galloway and Phinisee in the lineup, with wins over Purdue, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Michigan. That should count for something.

Yeah it’s 13 scholarships. Maybe TJD gets a ton of NIL money next year and stays as a walk on. We can dream, right?

I would guess 3 of Kopp, Phinisee, TJD, Race, Stewart, Durr, and XJ end up moving on after this year.

It seems pretty obvious that Clowney favored IU before his Alabama visit, but then Alabama went all-in and secured his commitment. Readers on these sites shouldn’t consider any player a “lock” until at least they finish taking their visits. These kids are 17/18 years old and this stuff can always change. That doesn’t make any info from our insiders incorrect.

I’m not worried about it with this staff. If we get Clowney then I’ll be stoked. If we don’t, I’ll trust that we’ll still get a solid big man.

I really like that Fife said former players have some responsibility to help the program. I totally get that there are some fractures that need mending but the time is now to bring everyone back together.

Yep. I live in Maryland now and have been to an IU-Maryland game. Their fanbase is passionate.

I don’t think anyone would be forced out. But I could see one of the guys at the end of the bench decide they’d rather play more minutes elsewhere. If that were to happen, I could see IU filling that spot. I don’t see them going into the fall with an unused scholarship.

After hearing Fife talk about Rob, I agree that he at least starts at the beginning of the year. It makes sense to have Lander be the first guard off the bench.

I’m pretty sure associate is a higher rank than assistant within the athletic department.
