Even if there isn’t more to the story… they can kick rocks. Didn’t he decommit before DDV was announced or shortly after? IMO after decommitting, DDV has no obligation to pick up the phone for a guy who committed to the last staff. Literally why waste the time? IDS running that story is lazy IMO.

Which is so great. I’m really pleased recruiting stories are going to be about our coach flying all over the country same day to land guys he thinks fit his system as opposed to a five star player the staff hardly knows falls into their lap because his mom texted the head coach after asking for his phone number so he could recruit her son. Enjoying the stark contrast.

I admit I was skeptical / gave me some pause to see no WVU players following DDV (other than his son, who is very good btw lol)… while he may have liked to bring one or two, seems more likely than not he knew he’d need to upgrade the talent and made a clean break. Clearly doesn’t have an issue identifying and locking down targets. All things considered we’re off to a pretty quick start in the portal IMO for it only being mid April. So excited to watch this guy coach.

You’re probably right. That said somebody else is always working when you’re not and Easter isn’t IMO a “huge” holiday nationally that everyone celebrates. So I’d think coaches are willing to host any recruits that want to visit that weekend. Maybe there are less of them than usual. But I think with how quickly things move and the money involved that won’t be a major hold up for many. JMO. I won’t be concerned either if it’s quiet.

On the NIL piece… really curious how much Enright is getting. I will root like hell for him since he was the first to really buy in on the ground floor. And I feel much better about his role with Conerway, Wilkerson, and Miles on board. I think he can be a very good facilitator and solid enough on defense. If he is not commanding a relatively large pay day I bet we could spend enough to land 3 more impact players and round out with developmental guys. This team is going to be soooo fun to root for. I hope we get to see a preview during an international trip this summer.

I think Freeman is the target most likely to announce next. Believe he’s going to go into decision mode soon after his UT visit, which I think may have just ended? After that Overton is one to keep an eye on. And a few big guys we seem to have made contact with, not sure if we are far along with any of them yet. Probably will hear about who is visiting this weekend soonish I think

Yup, Freeman and Overton may be a little ambitious since we definitely need a big man IMO. May be able to get two guys for the price of one Wilkerson. I just want a really good top 9 or so. If we can add decent multi year depth beyond that, great.

Add Overton, Freeman + a big ugly guy at the 5 and let’s roll.

Two commits in one day. DDV hosted Wilkerson and Conerway this past weekend (right? Could be wrong), flew out to see Wilkerson / secure his commitment after UK visit yesterday, flew back same day to host Miles (who committed earlier in the night). Not a bad week and it’s only Wednesday. Hell of a 48 hours for DDV and IUBB. Doesn’t seem to be much swinging and missing, actually?

Two in one day! Finally official. Welcome Tayton. Big things ahead! Going to be a great pairing with Wilkerson.

Do we think this means Freeman will likely go elsewhere? Too greedy to want both? Lol

Not sure who the best centers will be in the conference next year. Do think Bailey - Jacobsen on Purdue will be a very fun / interesting match up.

Thank the basketball gods we now have a coach who scouts for fit to build a winning team instead of one that looks at rankings and buys “talent” to fill a roster

Does Miles have any other visits scheduled after us? Curious how things shake out with Freeman.

Thank you that’ll be interesting to see play out. I could get very excited about something like Conerway / Enright Wilkerson / Overton / TBD (decent shooter hopefully) Freeman OR Miles / TBD (not so sure Goode gets another year but would love having him) DeVries / TBD / Sisley Bailey / Marshall or Opurum Conerway seems like a good bet right now. Seems we are squarely in it with Overton, Miles, and Freeman. Unlikely we hit on them all but it’s fun to wishcast and see how we fill it out. I bet we get Conerway this week and maybe one more.

Are we thinking Overton is Iowa bound following his HS head coach who they hired as an assistant or not necessarily?

Norton crashed on the pullout couch in a Lexington Hyatt place. When the UK staff came to pick up Wilkerson for breakfast in the morning, Norton hid in the bathroom.

Gonna miss half the fan base blaming Cliff Marshall for shooting struggles lol… but I think we’re going to see an awful lot less frustrating brand of basketball next season. Dare I say… a fun brand of basketball. Can’t wait to see how the roster fills out. I’m more excited about Wilkerson than I would’ve been for Conway.
