Mike Woodson to return as coach next season
Home Jersey replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
As you said the execution is what concerns me. Especially because if there's going to be "big changes" to the staff, that means hiring new coaches either in the next what, 10 days? Or during portal season itself... so I wouldn't expect wholesale changes but again. Will those changes be anything other than putting lipstick on a pig? Appears not. -
The solution is to hire an AD who knows what they are doing, not have non-sports people get involved in sports decisions. As for the Woodson raise, the buyout protections appear to have been a decent maneuver... if he's allowed to use them.
-
Sadly I think you just don't like having your opinion be in the minority.
-
Why not just repost it?
-
Only thing I'd add to your post is her contention that - not only is there consensus building, but that it has never led to unilateral decision making at IU. "It never has." That is an extremely bold statement. Your question about the BOT vote splits is a wonderful one and I look forward to a response from our friend.

Bro. I don't know why this is so hard for some of you to understand. The staff talked to Liam MANY TIMES since he signed the LOI. He decommitted because the fans won't even give Woody a chance. If it weren't for that he'd be here next year. How was Woody supposed to know he's supposed to build a relationship after they signed? They don't do that in NBA free agency. It's no loss anyway, Woodson will kill it in the portal with his huge NIL fund just like he did last year. Worked out great.

Your "logic" is trying to find angles that might or might not be there or actually exist. Thank GOD you are not a cop, because you would be the one that locks onto a falsely accused person and ruins their life lol. How many mountains of evidence do you need the staff is not getting it done on the court or the recruiting trail? We have 0 commits. Our only recruit left when we said we're bringing back the head coach! Lmao Edit: since you're confused, presumably about the cop comment, it means... you refuse to believe it's even a possibility you could be... wrong(!)
-
He and Cathy are two peas in a pod in that sense :)
-
That may remain to be seen if he goes anywhere. Since then he's lost his only recruit. Didn't you say you were taking a break from this board? Did that last a whole week? Lol Edit: Oh you had to come back to gloat about being "right" and explain how smart you are again. Right.
-
What do you call it when someone just refuses to believe what they can see with their own eyes? Lol How many ways can you bend over backwards to explain how it's not the staff's fault we suck and have no recruits and are going to overpay for a bunch of slightly above average mid-major guys and maybe 2 real studs. Then get another year of excuses coz Mike gets 4 no matter what. Yawn.

If you click her profile and read her posts you can read everything, get the full context, and form your own conclusion fairly quickly. I don't want to predispose you to the opinion I have formed.

I'm not sure how I could be much more gentle when her response is that "umm... other schools have wayyyy more interference from their BOT/Regents ... but no I'm not a defender nor a critic of this approach."
-
If there's one thing about Mike Woodson, it's that Mike Woodson is getting his 4 years. "I'm not going anywhere guys."
-
You guys, we're giving this thread a break. The "cool" discourse these days, is in the Liam decommitting thread with Cathy.

I would legitimately love to hear this answer. For reference, here is what RaceToTheTop said:
-
No no, it's none of that. It's just the culture at IU. Trust me, I'm neither a defender nor a critic of this approach. And those of us who actually know Scott and Quinn, know they have great respect for each other. It's all Dolson's fault... it's not the BOT's fault... it's the culture's fault... Definitely not the fault of the BOT, nor the environment they foster.

-
Also... SEC football teams are... good. IU basketball, sadly, is not...
-
I am not normally one to subscribe to the whole "great man theory" but if Cathy's commentary is any legitimate insight into how the administration at IU operates ... this place needs a savior to walk through the doors. Absolute gut punch to accept that.
-
Cathy, its laughable for you to claim you're neither a defender nor critic of this approach then respond like this.
-
He never asked about basketball hires.
-
I just can't help myself, so thank you for indulging me Cathy. Your first sentence is apparently the problem. It appears the Board has FAR more "oversight" (interference? disruption?) than other state universities do in their Athletic Department. Purdue comes to mind. Kansas or UNC... well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I appreciate that you're neither a "defender nor a critic of the approach" ... I don't think you've explained a whole lot aside from filling in the blanks about just how bad what a lot of people already believed, actually is. And that is why you're likely to see anger / frustration / a generally toxic environment when Woodson returns next year. That they are apparently willing to let things go so far off the rails, will be hard to swallow for a majority of fans and tough for them to save face anymore in terms of what "this" is all about.

Pretty funny way for her to not address what's being said and deflect to.... whether I went to IU and what student organizations I participated in or jobs I had. LoL

I just assume they don't know how to personally use a keyboard and type such utter BS
