Anyone seen Brad wearing a red tie lately?

Not meant as a defense of Truth Hurts at all. Just a linguistic geek trying to peel back the onion on this conversation a little so we can stop the slap fighting and get back to memeing Brad Stevens into a red sweater lol

I agree 100%. We add like 50 pages to this thread a day lately and Stevens talk is a small portion of that. Not hard to ignore the stuff you’re not interested in. And if people speculating about something you find far fetched is that bothersome, probably an inside thought to tell your therapist about instead of lashing out on the board lmao.

Generally agree but there are nuances. The odds I will sprout wings and fly is literally 0%. The odds of Brad Stevens deciding he’d rather be the GM of IUBB rather than President of the Boston Celtics, IMO, is so low for all intents and purposes you could call it 0, though I admit it’s not 0% technically. I do think there is a very small, but non-zero chance Stevens could coach IU. The notion of betting on it really wouldn’t prove Truth Hurts correct though… just because that may not be the outcome, does not mean the chance was always 0. We really have no idea what’s going on - nobody does for real right now. We’re all just blowing different flavors of hot air.

Sure, why begrudge them for trying to maximize their earnings. It’s also reasonable to think Dolson needs to know when to tell Stevens to **** or get off the pot.

Let’s just hope at the end of March we are all happy as clams with the new hire and can look back at February laughing about all the debates around Cronin/Beard, McCollum vs DeVries (lol) resting with ease knowing IU basketball is about to win big again.

I see 0 chance Brad Stevens wants a college basketball GM job. The people taking those roles are not in the same stratosphere as someone of Stevens’ profile IMO.

I think we are 99.9% aligned on our view of the situation. Only slight difference I have here is that I really don’t think retiring Mike midseason in any way says something about Dolson’s preparedness for the search. I don’t think he necessarily had to have a good idea about if Dusty or Brad would say yes before deciding on Mike. IMO that was purely damage control and stopping a bad situation from becoming worse. That said, I’d sure hope with basically a year to plan, Dolson knows what he’s doing…

Personally, while I’d love to be wrong, I’m assuming Brad and Dusty are a hard no. Otz and Drew in the next tier probably and I also think the odds it’s either of them are very, very low. To be honest, starting to wonder if the eventual hire is even somebody we’re talking about much at this point. Doubting it’s any of McCasland, McDermott, Buzz, Cronin, Pitino Jr etc. Probably not McCollum, Calhoun, or Byington all in their first years at schools. DeVries is too but maybe we can take him from WVU? Hard pressed to pick an individual favorite right now at the end of February.

Gotta give you guys credit. After the past two seasons I just can’t get myself to parse every bit of available info and try to piece together a narrative that understands what’s going on right now behind the scenes. Just passing the time til the end of the first weekend of the tournament. If we don’t have news in exactly a month I will start getting a bit concerned.

I’m usually not the kind of person to wish away time but really hoping the next month flies by. I don’t think anybody knows anything for certain. Easy enough to see how any candidate could theoretically be on the table. Don’t think we will know anything with any certainty until the announcement is made, just like the last football hire.

Mgbako can sit for the rest of the year for all I care. Maybe 10-15 mins to give other guys a rest.

I bet you next year we either get Stevens or someone else to be the new HC.

For sure, aware of them having a big time legacy in the state. I guess my questions are more just about if he still has the fire in him / why make the move now? I’ll have to start watching more Baylor games. He’s definitely in the upper crust of candidates we could hope for IMO.

I am not super familiar with Drew and definitely have a few questions but hard not to be thrilled at the idea of a coach who has actually won a title at this level.
