One more thought on this... if it happens... look out for Hurley being on the refs butts early about any whistles down low. I think it will be peak Hurley entertainment on the sidelines pleading his case about not getting Clingan/Johnson in foul trouble, probably before they even tip off lol

Gotta feel bad for the kid. On the one hand, I feel like Houston may have been the best bet to stop PU getting to the chip. On the other hand, Duke probably has more raw talent... so if they can beat NC State, and if PU gets past Tennessee (Knecht may drop 30-40 lol), Duke may have a better shot. Man I don't want to see them even get the chance.

It would be a good game! I think UConn will have their hands full with UConn today and don't think Bama will be an easy out either (assuming they beat Clemson). Rooting hard for Tennessee. I think Duke will beat NC State... shame about Houston's leader going down in the first half. That might have been the best bet at stopping PU from getting to the title game. Don't think it's a given though... love March Madness!

Yeah, but Clingan is not the focus of their offense. He doesn't have to beat Edey, just make him not his usual self. Karaban, Newton, Castle, and Spencer + Samson Johnson and a few other bench pieces are going to be able to get mismatches. Dont get me wrong, Purdue could win vs UConn, but I don't think UConn will rely nearly as much on Clingan to win as PU will on Edey

If there were one more minute on the clock, I really believe we would have gotten this done. Outside shot to pull it off still. The fact that it's been a one possession ball game in the last minute of 4Q is all you can ask for in a game like this. Would have been the largest comeback in the history of this tournament... no reason to be anything but proud as hell about this team today.

I am so damn proud of how hard these ladies play. No quit in any one of them.

I'm not saying he's going to go and average 12-14+ ppg right away next year, but I do think his game will translate pretty well in the Big East. With another offseason of hard work and if Holtmann has any decent development chops for guards, I could definitely see Gunn being a contributor/rotation player with a scoring focused role.

I'm 2/2 on my IU transfer guesses (Sparks was an easy guess, Gunn was a shot in the dark)... If Banks ends up at UGA, Ga Tech or Ga State, we're going undefeated next year. Calling my shot now.

Everyone in our fan base seems really into labeling each other these days lol. It's so weird. I don't believe in calling people sunshine pumpers even though I definitely don't fall into that category myself rn, it annoys me to see it thrown around so much. I have been called it in the past plenty of times actually. Can't people just root for their team to win. We all may think the odds of that vary but if differing opinions bug you (2nd person you; not - you, Stu) so much that you're antagonizing people, either take a break from the internet or don't read the board for your own peace. It's actually bugging the **** out of me that, because people are frustrated coming off a bad season and everyone responds to that differently emotionally... people feel they must be the "realist" and everyone else is a sunshine pumper/doomer. There is so much uncertainty still with our roster and an entire season ahead. I am hoping we do great! Not sure it's likely. Have to see how it plays out. That's part of being a fan. Sucks that smart a$$es - of both sides of this spectrum - try to create middle school drama and suck the fun out of it for the rest. Like Rodney King said... can't we all just get along. Don't we all just want IUBB to be playing this time of year next year? Why begrudge anyone for how they feel now, last month, or last year? Save that energy and toxicity for PU or someone more worthwhile.

Generally agree, but understand the speculation. As Stu said: The lack of regulation in the landscape and de facto "professionalization" of CBB makes it more similar to the NBA in the financial aspect, i.e. fans have a rooting interest in how their organization manages their budget/payroll. Right now, player pay comes in the form of donations, but as you said... if donors don't like how the dollars are spent, they will reduce or cease future contributions. This model is not sustainable. In the absence of a better one, when fans of a big program are struggling, scrutiny on everything is inevitable. Is it fair to the kid to speculate? In poor taste? Everyone will have different opinions. Today, just comes with the pay check, IMO. Think there should be a better model... we probably all do. Not sure what that ultimately ends up looking like though.

Hurley should take his starters out. That Castle hit looked like it could be a concussion IMO but cameras showed him saying he's fine. This has always been one of his bad tendencies dating back to St Benedicts lol

It's definitely possible UConn does not win it all, and I hope Purdue loses ASAP. But a Clingan vs Edey match up would be fun to watch. I tend to think UConn would win by 10+ at least. Hopefully PU doesn't play after tomorrow though.

Funny comments from Kelsey at the time stamped moment about his wife/recruiting ability. Seems like a self aware guy, very high energy. Not very familiar with his coaching style but on the surface I'd buy the idea he gets things going there in due time.

It actually surprises me in so many ways, this phenom going on within our fanbase. It's as if all nuance is dead. Very tribal. Cannot conceive of a world where people share what they hear and situations evolve. Just because someone shares what they hear and the situation evolves then plays out differently, does not mean that it wasn't true at the time they heard/shared it. I've never seen you or Jerry frame a post in a definitive way unless you were sure of it, and those things have happened. Even actual paid media people who break stories for a living, have been "wrong" about what they reported would happen (EX: ISP had the scoop on Essegian going back into portal). Most of the time they are right/consistent... and most of the time, what they are hearing is aligned with what our posters hear. This righteous indignation - as if speaking negatively about Mike Woodson's job as HC - is a personal affront, is weird. The desire to "keep receipts" as NGW has put it, tell others what they're allowed to say or feel, that maybe they'll "allow" you to root for the team next year if you keep being positive (this is all on Twitter, not here, to be clear) ... is f***ing weird, and tiresome. Do people not have a right to be skeptical? I didn't realize you lose your right to be a fan if you acknowledge glaring issues. Don't think that was the case until Mike Woodson decided to tell everyone it was.

What sucks is half the fanbase now feeling like they are empowered to "keep receipts" and mock you for rooting for your team, just because you had a different opinion on the coach. It probably says a lot about how divided society is these days. And if Woody does land a great portal haul + land a 2025 class... if he has a good season, sure, bring him back the year after. What is a "good" season? What are the odds based on the whole picture? To say it's premature to laugh at "the angry mob" is an understatement. Let's see how next season goes. Sorry, but recruiting isn't enough to get me excited about the program this offseason anymore.

Not really. People can recognize a good addition to the team (we have about 6-7 more spots to fill btw) and still not be convinced this is "proof" of some master plan and that everything is hunky dory. Coming into this thread with this take is just funny. Want a cookie?
