Not sure if there's a possibility with IU (doubtful I guess) but this guy looks interesting: Sam Alexis 6'8 240 - rising senior. Played on the Championship Gators but in a very limited role. 24 GP averaged about 12 mins and 4.7 pts, 3.5 rebs on 46.5 FG%. In 23-24 at UT Chattanooga: 27 mins per game 10.8pts, 9.1 rebs, 2.1 blocks in 23-24, All-SoCon (3rd team) and Defensive Team. As a freshman, only played ~12 mins. Hasn't played a ton of minutes in his career but coming from a championship locker room. Looks like he could provide good rim protection and offensive rebounding - 76th percentile in put backs. Looks like UNC / Bama and others are involved.

Interesting that there's Curtis smoke, considering he visited under previous staff so has some familiarity with the school already, could see things moving quickly if the money and pitch is right. If it happens, kind of makes you notice how many kids viewed Woodson as a negative for an otherwise attractive IU. A few off the top of my head... Curtis (if it happens), Sisley - basically committed knowing Woody wouldn't be his coach. McNeeley - committed to IU but never came because of Woody's system. Fland - chose Calipari over Woody (who can blame him). IU seems to make good on their money promises to players. That instantly makes it a pretty attractive spot for talented players. Plug in a competent coach who can show he is capable of winning here, and it's easy to see IUBB rolling in this new era of CBB.

Every kid is different! And we are working with extremely limited information about all of them, really. At the end of the day, good for those guys when things work out at their next place, but I’m not much interested in following their journey after they’ve left IU in most transfer cases.

I have it on pretty good authority there’s no love lost between Mgbako and Woodson which I do think affected his effort especially toward the end of the year. I’m sure he sees A) a big bag, knowing college deals may be as good as it gets for him B) sees himself in a star role on a relatively long leash with a new coach in P5. I figure Bucky is happy to take a lotto ticket on Mgbako in year 1. I think he will do better at his next stop like Gunn, Bates and Banks. Some of those guys were thought to have attitude / motor / selfish problems but have done just fine for themselves. Not saying he will be a world beater by any means for the record.

Their tears are delicious and will be even sweeter when Wilkerson helps us hand them a big L this year.

Even if there isn’t more to the story… they can kick rocks. Didn’t he decommit before DDV was announced or shortly after? IMO after decommitting, DDV has no obligation to pick up the phone for a guy who committed to the last staff. Literally why waste the time? IDS running that story is lazy IMO.

Which is so great. I’m really pleased recruiting stories are going to be about our coach flying all over the country same day to land guys he thinks fit his system as opposed to a five star player the staff hardly knows falls into their lap because his mom texted the head coach after asking for his phone number so he could recruit her son. Enjoying the stark contrast.

I admit I was skeptical / gave me some pause to see no WVU players following DDV (other than his son, who is very good btw lol)… while he may have liked to bring one or two, seems more likely than not he knew he’d need to upgrade the talent and made a clean break. Clearly doesn’t have an issue identifying and locking down targets. All things considered we’re off to a pretty quick start in the portal IMO for it only being mid April. So excited to watch this guy coach.

You’re probably right. That said somebody else is always working when you’re not and Easter isn’t IMO a “huge” holiday nationally that everyone celebrates. So I’d think coaches are willing to host any recruits that want to visit that weekend. Maybe there are less of them than usual. But I think with how quickly things move and the money involved that won’t be a major hold up for many. JMO. I won’t be concerned either if it’s quiet.

On the NIL piece… really curious how much Enright is getting. I will root like hell for him since he was the first to really buy in on the ground floor. And I feel much better about his role with Conerway, Wilkerson, and Miles on board. I think he can be a very good facilitator and solid enough on defense. If he is not commanding a relatively large pay day I bet we could spend enough to land 3 more impact players and round out with developmental guys. This team is going to be soooo fun to root for. I hope we get to see a preview during an international trip this summer.

I think Freeman is the target most likely to announce next. Believe he’s going to go into decision mode soon after his UT visit, which I think may have just ended? After that Overton is one to keep an eye on. And a few big guys we seem to have made contact with, not sure if we are far along with any of them yet. Probably will hear about who is visiting this weekend soonish I think
