Push the envelope means committing NCAA recruiting violations, like they've done. Committing NIL violations, which they've done. Creeping out recruits, which they've done. Operating with no accountability, which they do. Why would anyone be jealous? I have no desire to be close to the players or coaches. I just want IU basketball to be great, and I don't want two clowns who want attention putting that in jeopardy. Think of the guy that operates Hoosiers For Good. Have you ever even seen his face? I haven't. Conversely, I've never seen one thing HH has done where Eric wasn't front and center. This is all about him. I am not jealous of that. I am repulsed by the self-aggrandizing narcissism. I despise arrogant, obnoxious, attention seekers.

They are trying. That's why you are seeing things change with HH. But my contention, and their concern is that narcissists are going to be narcissists, and they will just keep coming up with ways to push the envelope.

And yes, the perception that an athletics department is standing between players getting paid is a major, department shattering, program destroying concern in this age of social media and 24/7 news. People at high levels in the department are very concerned about the HH guys, and also very concerned about getting in their way, especially with how self-serving the HH guys are. It is a predicament. They strongly hope others will step in and marginalize their efforts.

Right, they stopped recruiting a top-50 kid with a 5-star little brother for two top-100 kids. Good spin! Their interaction with Fears was an NCAA recruiting violation. Media cannot interact with recruits during visits. Neither can NIL collectives. If you actually knew anything, you'd know IU tolerates these two merely because they don't want to be perceived as getting in the way of players making money. They'd love for actual reputable people with real money and contacts to take the lead on this stuff. But without that, IU Athletics is in a bind.

The Fears thing was 11 months ago during the Cincinnati football game. Strangely, our recruitment of him seemed to end then and there.

There is no reason why the recruits couldn't go even without "school involvement." Burgess was there this weekend. I hope you are right. I just saw a poorly attended Hysteria last year in Woodson's first year. I am just afraid people won't make the trip there twice for what to them feels like the same stuff. Most fans don't appreciate all the nuances. If the place looks empty in front of a bunch of recruits, that is a big problem.

So then just get the school un-involved with the one in October. That is a major recruiting event, and you risk marginalizing it by having what to many seems like the same thing two months earlier.

Dakich just said exactly what I said -- that Rabjohns' story was the story IU wanted to get out. If you guys don't understand this I can't help you. Again, it is exactly why Rabjohns was on an island saying IU never tried to hire Chris Holtmann when literally everyone else was saying they did. It is possible to be for these kinds of events but not want someone who reflects poorly on the program involved.

I'm with you on all points. I was simply pointing out that these idiots have no business representing our beloved program, and anyone who sends them money is a complete imbecile.

IU has thousands of highly competent and professional Kelley business school alums who could properly run a "collective." The idea that people are going to blindly Venmo money to narcissists in LA so they can behave like this is beyond absurd.
