82 to 9 to 3 to 63..... Then 48 to 11 to 44... What a Hot and Cold Roller Coaster. For additional Comparison (most recent years): Sampson: (62, 52, 18, 12, 14, 5, 2, 2, 1) Dusty May: (181, 129, 17, 28) Beard: (41, 11, 5, 21, 17, 15, 60) Josh Shertz (230, 100, 34) Painter (9, 19, 5, 9, 24, 25, 14, 7, 2) I also took a look at most great coaches... They all seem to be pretty consistent... -

Unfortunately I believe Woodson will fall victim to Fred Glass' doing. What I mean by that, and insiders correct me if I'm wrong... Indiana post Sampson and under Glass, had no structure or foundation in place to swap coaches. When Crean left it was a rebuild, when archie left it was a rebuild.... Its obvious that Glass left some foundational things to be desired and that a coach is going to have to take total control of the program and fix way more than what would be needed at a conventional P5 job. I'm not sure Woodson is passionate about making it "His" program, and the foundation isn't strong enough for what he's attempting to do. Remember this is the program Fred Built over 10 years. I'm just saying I think its unfair to blame all of this on Woodson, at least 20-30% should be shouldered on Fred Glass and his lack of program controls -

I remember hearing from someone that Archie’s defense would take 4 years to implement… I think Archie was pretty bad. In fact I’m not sure he’ll ever coach a team in the top 25 of KenPom -

Interesting that Crean was Hot and Cold, which is how his teams played during the season, and his tenure as a whole. interesting Archies teams no one really liked and everyone was uncomfortable in the situation interesting that Sampsons teams were fun to watch but no one trusted and ended up getting burned badly Interesting Davis was a ton of fun and had one of the most fun season of IUBB Interesting that Woodson has been called low energy and his teams at time reflect that. My take: the program is a direct reflection of the head coach and the admin has yet to understand that -

Let’s not forget Crean ran off MattRoth who was a 40+% shooter from 3 in favor of hanner perea and Peter jerkin… when we needed a 3pt specialist to break the zone.. karma I guess. someone posted about the intangibles of bring the IU coach (being involved in the community, coaching clinics, video messages and shows, teaching fans how to watch the game, etc) Archie embodied none of those qualities so he should have never been hired. I would have rather had Mike Woodson and Larry Brown as coaches instead of Archie. boy does glass have an ego -

Man timing is everything. If the Louisville and Osu jobs open up, it would be hard for May or Scherz to turn down. IU is once again left at the alter. -
No not because of Wisky. I’m reading off body language and him being on the bench. Also he’s what a 10-50 (20%) career 3pt shooter. I’m not sure there’s potential for him here.

Who’s in a worse position right now, Indiana or Louisville? I might argue Indiana -
My complaint. Gonna probably the heat for this…. You can’t start 2 centers and be successful. We can’t have both Ware and Reneau in the floor at the same time. clogs up the lane…makes each center less effective, makes the guards less effective and creates a terrible offense with no spacing or movement. I think CJ and XJ should have been kicked off the team. I would imagine they are a locker room distraction. Reminds me of Hanner Perea when he was a cancer to the team.

As an AD you have to build trust with your president that you know what you’re doing and that the president has to get in line. Not sure dolson commands any respect -

Greenspan was amazing at hires… Tracy smith, Sampson, few others, fired Davis.. built cook hall, enclosed the north end zone… just didn’t have anything in place to help safeguard from a Sampson implosion. -

I feel bad for Leal. He has talent. His last 2 coaches were Archie and Woodson. So sad. Beard turns us into a national contender in 12 months if we can handle the extra risk Please Dusty may I’m praying you have a good tourney in March -

If fans can see this, why doesn’t the admin? Why wait? -
IU Admin in 2010-2011 we can’t fire Crean and make a move on Stevens because we have a huge recruit coming in. Buckner Glass hire Archie Buckner and Isiah hire Woody IU admin in 2023 we can’t fire woody and make a move on (May/Beard) because we have a huge recruit coming in. Years later Buckner (hires insert bad hire)
-
Even if we fire him Buckner and Isiah are going to make our next hire… we’ll be back here in 12 months
-
I meant not if the team takes a step back, rather. If you remove yourself and look at the Macro, does IU really have a strategy, or it a scramble lets figure this out year over year? Purdue seems to have a system and strategy and they recruit to it. Not sure we have anything defined at the moment
-
I hear you, but if you take a step back, is there really a "strategy" at play, or just more of "scramble" every year?
-
For #3 at any point in the last 3 years have you ever said “wow we’re building something special here”? I don’t hate the Woodson hire. I am simply expressing frustrations from of a place a FEAR that Isiah who is widely regarded as one of, if not the, worst nba exec in the last 20 years is running our program from behind close doors. Therefore i’m looking at anything that would disrupt the narrative. I want to be proven wrong. Thats why I’m asking for any sliver of hope that we interviewed other candidates and had a strategy vs blindly just hiring someone’s buddy
-
Didn’t Fred Glass meet with Buckner every day when they hired Archie?
-
That’s just what I find bizarre. The straight Brad says no so we go straight to Woodson… was there a Porter Moser or Chris Beard in that process that told us heck no? If so that would make me feel slightly better
